Is the red CBR broke? it doesnt sem able to lean far at all.....mybe if he removes the stabilisers.
Had one of those model R6, a bit unstable to say the least, guy looks to be 280lb plus....just saying, if its going to go wrong.....:hook2:
+1 on the stock front being sound once set up.
the rear does get a bit bouncy/wallowy though if you push on a bit. I had great success with my Nitron unit. Othersd are happy with Ohlins, Penske, White Power etc. I think as long as you invest in a reasonable spec. unit with a spring that matches...
Cant comment on the latest R1 to compare, but I am quicker through tight to medium corners on the FZ. The R1 came in to its own at HIGH speed on super fast sweepers, not sure how much of that was down to the steering damper and clips ons?
It needs a seriously fast road and a committed (in every...
i have run an 06 R1 for 12k and had my Fz1s (replacement bike since oct 08. Another 12k done!
Pilot road 2s more than adequate on both bikes. I am however smooth (dare I say rather quick as well). No chicken strips back and only about 2mm left on the fronts. just replaced them in fact...with...
thumbs up for these guys. Come up trumps with a new end can, a bit more 'legal' for my upcoming euro trip. The can uses the existing MTC link pipe so saved a £ on the change.
Love the sound, not to tame and the looks
1. Wind protection
Not much in it, the vfr screen is low
2. Reliability
Both excellent. Though some folk would have you believe that the Honda is better...regualator/rectifier failing is common on the vfr and other Hondas. the exhaust is prone to rot as its so hard to get at for cleaning...
Welcome to the forum Joe. I have come from sports bikes as well (gsxr750, R6, R1)
If your spending money on mods on a gen2 consider a new rear shock. Its the only weakness IMO if your a progressive rider. Enjoy the new bike.
Been running Pilot Road 2ct since 08, on R1 then FZ1s. Fantastic combination of all weather grip to the edges and long lasting.
Had bt016s on the R6. Fantastic tyres but with a very short life expectancy. You pays your money......
Be prepared to factor in extra money for bar end weights. Often the replacement bars have a different internal diameter. Some of the non standard weights are not as heavy (ali rather than steel) so vibrations will be worse through the bars. One of my mates had to get the OE weights machined down...
This is why I would never drop down in size. Nobody can tell me that given the same care with maintenance that the 530 chain is not better. The picture is of a failed chain on a 650 Bandit! Not a 130-150 bhp FZ...so I will stick with the correct fitment and maintenance.
The chain in question...
My FZ came on D221s also. Like others my 1st thought was oh f##k, cant wait to change these as I aint a fan. To be fair though, the Dunlops worked VERY well for the 1st 1500 miles and i LIKED THEM, especialy in the dry. But then very quickly showed the usual Dunlop traits of 'white lining' and...
Well, it seems like bikes have always been around, from sitting on the petrol tank of Dads Tiger cub (Triumph!) while he rode up the street...me maybe about 3 years old. Then riding up back on his Triton when a youngster. (Triton= Norton featherbed frame with TriumphBonneville motor, they were...
Congrats on the new bike picard, I dont think you will regret it. Nearly every sit up sporty bike was looked at when I made my purchase, even used Duke s4r's. Great looking bikes. However the Yam has been a delight and probably far more useable in many ways (10 k miles in 12 month!). It makes a...
I am a biased gen2 owner, but I got in to the fazer thou club through 2 guys who run gen1s. On back rod blasts they were always at the front, even when I had an R1!
VA Rider summed it up well. gen 1 tour(y) gen 2 sport(y). Add in a bit more tank range on the gen1, mostly down to an extra4litre...
I would say, swallow your pride and buy a GS1200. Perfect for 2 up, comfy and if road surfaces are bad then it is the clear choice with that weird (but good) suspension set up.
If its all on good roads then buy the FZ. The KTM is a non starter for pillion comfort.
The Trump, I just have a...
Not too loud....that is until the baffle parted company at some point on yesterdays ride out and and my mate ran over it on his R1. Bstid: oops: After that it was VERY loud and antisocial. Sounded like a machine gun. Looks like I need to order a new baffle, only this time a locking nut and some...

Just found this,quote:
''In addition, the swingarm was extended 20 mm longer due to acceleration instability.''
Refers to the 06 model year. Hope it helps your decision.:poke:
