I agree you can, but I would point out that where you have that line drawn, you will be almost cutting it in half. It will be a LOT louder. You might want to consider removing 3-4 inches at first, not half.

I agree with psittacid; this is my first ever bike with a centerstand, and I love it. I have a work stand, but man the centerstand is so much easier to use, and even lets you work on the front end, if you have someone sit on the bike lifting the front wheel up. No way I'll ever remove it; hell...

^^^ Don't take this wrong, but do you have much riding experience? I've never heard of anyone "cruising in neutral" on a bike. I can't imagine even trying to find neutral while moving, why would you want to do that?
