    Risk vs. Skill

Adrenaline Shakes are for real. I haven't had any in 10 years or so. That used to be my measure of good ride. If it didn't give you the shakes, it was a lame ride. I now know that I was lame.

    Risk vs. Skill

I used to ride like an idiot also. (When you are trying to lose rear wheel traction in the middle of a turn so that maybe the front wheel will regain some traction, you are riding like an idiot.) I'd run through Golden Gate Canyon outside Denver so hard that when I got to the other end I would...

Oil Drain Plug Bolt Stripped - What options do I have?

I made that mistake once on another bike. I fixed it with these. ++ TIME-SERT Threaded inserts for stripped threads, threaded inserts, thread repair stripped sparkplug's, Ford sparkplug blowouts, threaded inserts threaded, repair stripped threads, stripped threads, inserts threaded inserts...

STOP! Before you buy your next house!

I thought this was going to be something useful like "Make sure it has an enclosed riding arena." so you don't have to quit riding in the winter. Not that haunting isn't important......

    seats

You may be opening a can of worms. Seats: I like Sargent. Others like Corbin. Still other like the more hand crafted seats, I think they come from England (sorry, I can't remember the seat name and I don't feel like using the search function). One guy, once, in a land far, far away...

    feel my pain

The same thing happened to me last year and it did suck. None of my local shops will patch a tire at all these days. Unlike others, I have thrown a plug out of a tire on a motorcycle. It was 12-14 years ago and I had never heard of these new fangled mushroom plugs. Talk about a scary event...

    Yamaha's New Bolt

I never even heard of an XJR1300 before. Absolutely beautiful.

    Yamaha's New Bolt

I wish Yamaha would build a bike that pays homage to one of their own. Say a 950cc parallel twin that looks like a bobbed or flat track XS 650. Modern electrics, brakes, etc. Or, build a similar machine around a 1200cc water cooled parallel twin. I know they have one of those engines but I'm...

What happened to my tire store?!?!

That kind of confirms my worst fears. Who knows what brought it down. The originator probably retired or sold it to someone who didn't know how much work is involved in maintaining a succesful business. Bad for the customers and worse for the employees. I suppose it could be the economy...

What happened to my tire store?!?!

For the last 8 years I have made all but 2 of my motorcycle tire purchases from Tires Unlimited.com. They are in Dayton, have great prices and are close to me so standard ground shipping gets it here in two days. Now their web site appears to be gone! :jaw drop: I called their number and an...

    26,000 mile valve adjustment

You are only one out, but if it was me that would worry me to death since it is on the end of the range where it isn't going to get better as it wears more. As you said, shims are cheap and you are already in there. I'd adjust it but I'd understand if you decided not too.

    26,000 mile valve adjustment

I can not speak to the FZ1 specifically because I have not had to do my valves yet, but it does not sound strange when compared to other overhead cam motorcycle engines with bucket and shim valve adjustment that I have worked on. Normally the valves get tighter as time goes bye. With millions...

FZ1 Riders Show us your baby!!

Here's mine last summer at a Civil War site on Rt 250 near the VA/WV boarder. The wife and I really enjoyed that weekend trip.

    exhaust

I recommend you go to You Tube, do a search for FZ1, and listen to all of the different exhaust system sound clips that people have posted and decide which one YOU like. Thats what I did and now I want the MIVV X-Cone.:drools: Edit: I guess I type too slow. Tombraider already said this...
