PapaGeno21's Build Thread...

Hes probably worked out all the dosh hes thrown at the FZ1 he could have had the new V4 Tuono which i checked out yesterday = OMG what a machine this will be my next bike after the FZ1 in a couple of yrs. Everything fits like a glove and the ergos are great it is similar to my setup but a fraction more aggressive but still comfortable, the quality of the bike is fantastic even the stock exhaust looks good. It is the complete package IMO = buy, ride, service & enjoy no messing around modding & chasing ponies.

Yea, that V4 Tuono is definitely one sexy machine. I wouldn't mind one either ;)

Yeah the Tuono has raised the bar in the naked/semi-naked catagory, even my mate who rides an 08R1 and hardcore superbike fan admits he could see himself owning one. The gauntlet has been thrown down to the Jap manufactures, make something not so watered-down. Aprilia have done their homework and priced the Tuono almost within reach of the average working mans budget without sacrificing quality and performance, the Euro manufactures ATM seem to be pi**ing all over the japs.

I agree...from both a design and technology aspect the European manufacturers have leaped ahead of the Japanese...just look at the BMW S1000RR and Ducati 1199 for example. Kawasaki did do a good job with their new ZX-10, but it wasn't enough IMHO...

Updated pics.

Wow. I love that my thread started conversation becuase I have not been around.

Sorry guys, I just have been real busy lately. I still ride as much as I can. I managed to do just under 9K for 2011 and have already had it out a few times this year. Including today.

All I will be doing from this point on is oil/tires/normal maintance. Got to say though, I LOVE the PR2 Rear and PP2CT front combo. Not showing any wear on the rear yet and just about to hit 3K on it.

Nice to see you guys are still around! Sorry I have not been.

FZ1inNH, I still want to head up your way this summer man!

Glad to hear you're still around and enjoying the FZ1. Once in a while life can get very busy and complicated for any of us that's for sure...

Planning on hitting 11K tomrorow. Ended the day today at 10,949 miles on her. I must say, these tires are AMAZING. The PR2CT Rear shows almost no wear, and the PP2CT front is holding up well. Almost 4K on this set and I figure the front will be dead around 7K and I have no clue when the rear is going to give out.

I have some smog blockoff plates in the mail coming from Bogie on here, I figured I would do a plug change sometime soon and that would be a good time to pop those in there.

My photobucket has had too much attention due to another post I made somewhere else, so all my dead pics will work in two weeks when they reset my bandwith. Anyways, here is something I did today. Cleaned up the bike and did the normal cleaning routine that I do every 500 ish miles, and then I put something on there I have been meaning to do since the end of last year.

Last year I bought gold FZ1 decals off a member here, and they are supposed to fit right over the stock ones. Mine did not properly line up and that's ok as I just removed the factory ones. These gold ones look SICK. I will try and get some better pics tomrorow, I did not realize these were so bad until just now taking them off my cam and its midnight so not going outside to get more pics currently LOL.

Pretty soon I am planning on doing the Arrow header, BM Air filter, PCV + IM, Airbox Mod, and Remove or tie the flys all at once when the cash allows. I have officially gotten to the point where I want MO POWA.

Oh those stickers look great! The gold goes really well with the black...

Those smog plates will make future plug changes that much easier. I can tell you this from experience...;)

Small update. I have some stuff in the mail. One of these things you guys may not approve of but I am looking for a little more function over form currently.

I have some long trips planned this year, and the girl is going to be on the back for all of them so I need to make this thing comfy. So here is what I have in the mail.

Shad SH45 Top case with Gloss Black color panel
Shad top case mount system
Sh45 top case back rest

I will be ordering some rain gear in a week or so.

Now here is the thing that you guys may disagree with, but I removed the CD Speed Screen. I have a Puig Touring screen in the mail. I am going to give it a try, as I am looking to block a bit more wind. The CD screen just smooths it out and blasts you in the face. I get a decent amount of buffeting from the CD screen, and I don't really care for normal driving or even distances of like 150 miles but past that it really is starting to kick the shit out of me. SO I want to to try the Puig as its the best looking "touring" screen around. Only lame thing is the CD screen has gouged out a V right in between the headlights where the tip of it touched. Going to have to figure out a way to fix that. I may even swap back and forth between the two depending on what I am doing and the temps. If I like the Puig to the point that I don't want the CD screen any more then I will just sell it.

The saddlebags and top case will only be on the bike for the trips, otherwise it will look the same. Between the Nelson Riggs saddle bags, the Sh45 top case, and the Nelson Riggs CL80 tank bag I will have just under 100 liters of storage. I figure I can do anything or go anywhere with that amount of space.

I did a 200 mile trip with it Sunday, and I had made a seat pad for the rear seat and the woman was happy with it. I had adjusted the suspension to handle us both and let me tell you that Penske is just a work of art. The difference is WAY more impressive when riding 2 up. The stock shock truly shows you how much of a POS it is when you are two up.

Needless to say, I am happy. With gas 4 bucks a gallon over here I am using this thing literally any day that its 40% chance of rain or less. Coming up on 12K with it. I honestly figure I will hit 20-22k by the end of this season with it.

I have heard about those issues with rubbing with the CD screen too. One guy on other forum decided against selling his screen as he couldn't fix the gouging.

What adjustments did you make to the penske for two up? With stock shock it was easy for me to increase the preload 2 notches but with my penske I have no clue as to how much should I rotate the preload ring.

Here is my Shad and Givi setup

To make givi racks work with a FE

I need to take it to the welder to make the shad and givi racks work together. Currently am using the seat mounted top case.

So here is what I have been up too. Basically I want to start taking long rides with this beast and I want some more comfort. Not going to lie, it looks epic with the CD Speed screen and just the Axio tail bag. But times are changing and I honestly am going more for function than form at this point. The CD screen basically beats the hell out of me over 70mph and I do a LOT of driving over that speed.

So, there is a member on the other forum named "Dirt road" and he makes some SICK seats. I currently have him making me a set. This is what they end up looking like. Everyone who has done them say they are AMAZING. So I am anxious to get mine in (So is the woman).

So I also changed windscreens. I bought the Puig Touring screen, and so far I really really really like it. I can sit upright normally until 100 and be comfy, and if you tuck down under it there is just no noise at all. You just get to listen to the engine. I honestly do not see me putting the CD screen back on and foresee it being sold soon.

Also got in my Shad stuff. Its the Sh45 case and mounts and backrest etc. I have the Gloss Black color panel for the top of the case in the mail also, so that will make it look much better.

Here is just that stuff.

And then I tossed on my tank bag and the saddle bags. They are not hooked up just sitting on there for the pics. I will have an epic amount of space using all that room. It is really cool!

I will be leaving the top case mount hooked up as it to me is not that fugly that I have to take it off. I will not be leaving the top case ON the bike but I am going to use it often enough that taking off the mounting hardware is just dumb. All in all I am VERY happy with the stuff I purchased and will be using it all very often this year.

Planning at some point to hit the Blue Ridge Parkway so this will be real good. Heading to my friends house in PA first weekend of June. Just hit 12,200 miles on it tonight. Never loved a bike like this. IT just does everything so well.
