Here is a ski I tune that is tuned entirely with scatter plots. These motors are very difficult to hook up to a dyno and even then we have no way to simulate real world racing conditions.

The only way to tune EFI is with continuous feedback to the data loggers. Weather tuning is done automatically with closed loop feedback to the ECU or done offline with data analysis software is a little debatable.
Not using data loggers makes tuning impossible. Using a dyno to do this is...
I run the autotune 100% of the time on the FZ1. I run some sort of closed loop tuning on all of the motors I tune. The people that are advising customers to not run CL simply have not watched and logged enough motors running day after day in real world conditions.

You never know... Something may come along someday, that will blow away everything that has been seen to date in the Yamaha world.
The Harley, Honda and Subaru guys have been doing this stuff for years.

If I was to start with a 06 bike, I personally would get one of these and a PC5/Wideband2/and an LCD-200 set up.

I cut mine with a sabersaw just like the video but I have blue tape on both sides. Then I hand sand with a sponge sanding block. Then I finish everything with rubbing compound followed with plexy glass polish.

Keep in mind that if you compare your mileage to someone else that has a different gear ratio, the numbers will be different. You really need to check GPS/true mile divided by gallons used, but almost nobody does that.

I have a fuel consumption gauge on one of my bikes. The things that help is lugging the motor and using as little throttle as you can to get to where you want to go. Lean mixtures tend to help.
None of this is enjoyable or worth the trouble. Most of us get around 30 if you stay off the...
You can set the tuning authority to 0% and the autotune unit would only data log. The Dynojet stuff all works on a CAN network. The protocol is unique to Dynojet so sharing data like RPM or throttle position with other systems would be almost impossible.
Yes you could do all tuning by hand...
That sums up my findings. Cut box gives the same power, harder to tune and sounds great. The power increase that most tests gain is they did not fully tune each setup before retesting.
Any new tunes that I help with, are advised to leave the air box stock.
