Yes, you need the R1 front axle, and the bolt that secures it in place.
Yes, with 04-06 R1 calipers you can reuse your FZ1 wheel and disc.
BTW I would highly recommend installing an R1 master cylinder and steel braided brake lines while you're in there. Change the fork oil, too.
My first bike was a Burgman 400. There is something to be said for the twist-and-go simplicity of a CVT. Copious storage space under the seat, too. I never got comfortable with the cruiser-like, feet forward riding position, though. And the primitive suspension (engine as unsprung weight) was...
I'm in the same boat. Love my '09 FZ1---it's been my daily driver for the last two years. But I've grown weary of its shortcomings as a freeway commuter.
It's not that it's uncomfortable. In fact the FZ1 fits me just about perfectly in terms of ergonomics. What does bother me is the low fuel...
Cheap as I am I would probably go with option C.
In my experience most Japanese bikes outside of the race-bred sportbike classes come with marginal suspensions. My Versys certainly did. And like your 919 it had a non-linkage shock. A forum member figured out an 04-08 R1 shock could be modified...
That's a better deal than I've seen lately on eBay, esp since it includes the master cylinder. Like you said, you'll need to check it out in person to confirm good condition.
And keep in mind you'll also need 310mm rotors or spacers for the caliper mounts.
I paid $380 locally for the 04-06...
You can't use the FZ1 brake calipers, no. That's part of the point of this upgrade: radially mounted brakes vs the FZ1's conventionally mounted brakes. Maybe you were thinking of the brake rotors. With the 04-06 R1 forks you can retain the 300mm FZ1 rotors (pads, too). With the 07-08 R1 6-piston...
I bought this lower fairing used last year, but only had it on the bike for a month or so. The middle section has some chips (see pics below), but overall the finish is in great condition. I had left the mounting brackets installed for a while and managed to break off part of the right side...
Normally I would agree with you. All too often products (e.g. cars) seem to be built to a price rather than built to meet the customers actual needs. But in my opinion the Woodcrafts are legitimately superior to the competition both functionally and aesthetically. The latter is impossible to...
Replacement pucks from either Woodcraft or T-Rex are about $15 a piece. The question then becomes, which base design is more likely to survive a crash?
IMHO the Woodcraft with its shorter, fatter puck is less likely to be subjected to the kinds of loads that would damage the base---and more...
Nice. I really like the Red and Gold color scheme. Looks like Tony Stark's bike.
I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of re-hosting and rotating your pics.
The T-Rex frame sliders are without a doubt the best value out there. But the more I research, the more I gravitate towards the...
