Photo Tips, Tricks and techniques

give it time Billy.... before long, you'll be running out to get yourself a DSLR... then, you'll understand all of the lingo...

You may be right Aaron. When I got my Canon SD1100is, coming from a cheap Kodak, I thought the pictures were absolutely awesome. Then I see these photos that you guys post here and realize that a simple "point and shoot", although it's nice, doesn't even compare. I may move up to the DSLR class one day, if I can stop spending money on the bike!

just wait.... if you think the bike is a money hog.... it doesn't compare to a camera... just go ahead and start wadding up $100 bills and throwing them in the toilet...

The running joke is that the easiest way to make money in photography is to sell all of your gear....

part of the curve is from the trail of the stars... part is from using my Tokina 12-24 (Which is for sale by the way) ... I like how it makes it look like you're at the equator.. with some stars curving up, some curving down, and some almost straight...

Thanks, I already have a Tokina 10-17. Are you upgrading to a Canon L series?

Point and shoot cameras can take nice shots to, and are getting better all the time. I was playing around with my daughters Fuji SP 2500 and took this one of our cat. It was not as precise with the focus as what I'm now used to but the end result was fairly good.

The weather was nice... and I've been sitting here studying for the last 4 days... so.. to reward myself, I grabbed the camera and hopped in the car...

So.. I went to my normal place to shoot some motorcycles... hoping that since we had nice weather, there would be a few out....
There were a few....

Yeah... that's a Bentley Continental GT ... MSRP $189,900

So... after shooting traffic for a little bit... I used the 70-200 for some purposes outside of what it's really intended for....

So... totally had a good time out shooting... cleared the head... and this dang 70-200 never ceases to amaze me....

Thanks Billy! It's strange... I have to get down off of my mountain to see any interesting insects... we don't really get butterflies up at my place... or mosquitoes for that matter...

Well thank God for that! I wish I could say the same. Mosquitoes just love me for whatever reason. If I wanted to see such awesome insects I'd have to pay to go to the Bronx Zoo where they have a huge butterfly exhibit. I believe that there's nothing like seeing them in the wild and their natural habitat. Keep em coming! Try and get a couple of shots of some Praying Mantis's. I know when Richie and I would head down each year for my annual Nascar Vacation, we were amazed at how many are down there.
