Gday all,
Been looking at this site for quite a while and seeing how i am now the more than happy owner of a 07 FZ1S thought i would try to get all your knowledge, etc lol.
Have had many bikes over a long period traded a YZF600R which had done her duty , the FZIs as far as im concerned is the progression of Yamaha in making useable road weapons , the thing is so smooth and easy to ride and ride hard also. Will be fun we i get to the island for a ride day as the old YZF600 could get round in 2 mins flat not real bad for an old fart lol
Anyway
cya

Hi Ozbloke, Happy to have to on board. I wonder if you have any shots of you in action from "the island" on your YZF? If so please post some up!

We have monthly contests here where the winner picks up some spending cash for the casino we have here on the forum. Welcome again!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Sam, and I'm located right in the middle of the state of Illinois, and sadly that means very few curves close by.

Mine is a 2004 Blue FZ1 that I bought new in April of 05. Pure grin in your helmet kind of fun. I've thought of other bikes over the years, but this bike fits me like a glove.

About me, married for 32 years, three kids, one grandchild and one on the way. Regarding age...only as old as ya feel.

Thanks for having me here.

Sammy

Great to have you along Sammy. I heard you guys in the Midwest are still getting hammered with bad weather. I'm sure things will clear up soon. Welcome to the club. Post up some pics.

My name is Tom and I was born, raised, and still living in the Cleveland, OH area. I am 53 years old, turning 54 this Saturday. I have been riding motorcycles since 16. Started out putting a Rio mower enging on a 20" bicycle and wearing a path around my parents home. Currently employed at Parker Hannifin in their Information Technology area, which is what I have done ever since about the age of 20. Was married for 23 years, then got divorced 5 years ago. I just got married again this past November. Have owned many motorcycles and my current one is a 2003 liquid silver FZ1 that I purchased a few years back new off the dealers floor for a substantial doscount. I'v owned Honda, Harley, Yamaha, Suzuki, and an old Ducati motorcycle. The FZ1 is undoubtly the best one for me so far. LOVE IT.

Just saw this thread. So better add something. Live on the peninsula, south of Babylon West, San Francisco.

Bought a new 06 FZ1 in oct 07, and now approaching 50k miles (over 49,500 miles as of this writing) of nearly all twisties. I have two loops. One loop for good weather, the other loop when the weather is foggy on the loop that is partially on the coast.

All mods, full graves, rizoma sets and mirrors, 17/48 sprockets, bikes runs better now than when new. Dumped extra weight, like center stand. All I've done is change oil and changed out the K/N filter twice, and did the plugs at 25k. Had to change a blown fan fuse a couple months ago.

Prior to this bike I ran a WR in rural Trinity County every weekday without snow. Before that had the CBR1k.

I love this bike on the tight twistie stuff, although it does ask for some moving around to turn nicely. Although I liked the cbr, this bike is FAR better the way I have it set up, and how it handles everything thrown it's way.

Hey, Krashdragon here...
dont' have a FZ1, nor a FZ6 ...
Now down to my old Harley, because the other bikes (FJR, Bandit 1200 and Triumph Speedmaster) were way easier to sell than the Harley.
So I've been looking again.... was thinking about a 600cc, but once you get used to the power.... :O) The FZ is also lighter than the Bandit, and I can lower both of them.
So I thot I'd do a bit of reading. No place to get better info than from the guys that own the bike....
Y'all take care...
from Mary aka Krashdragon in Texas.....

I live in Austin Minnesota where all the Spam is canned...sorry. Don't have an FZ1 yet but am looking high and low for a gen 2 within 200-300 miles of me. Had many bikes in my youth but went from about 1981 to 2001 without. Bought a new 2001 Yamaha Road Star and have logged 85,000 miles on it. Not too bad considering it's snowmobile weather six months of the year in my neck of the woods. The Roady is nice but I'm bored with it and want to go fast so.....looking for an FZ1.

Another newbie!

Hi, just found the site so thought I'd say hello.

I have an 07 faired FZ1, secondary butterflies removed, decat from downpipes, airbox mod and K+N filter. Much much better like this! Can and power commander next plus sort the suspension...........

Marc

I just wanted to shout out a big welcome to Krashdragon, JDC606, Simplesurgeon, and Hux. It's a pleasure to have to guys here. Thanks for joining our little family here. Post some shots of all your bikes when you get a chance. Thanks.

Just a few pics of my FZ1 over the years. The first is shortly after I got her in spring of 2005. The second is from 06 with tape stripes to see if I would like them or not, and the last with it's painted stripes done in 08.

Hope you like.

Sammy

Welcome Sammy and those stripes remind me of a '96 GS Corvette ;)
