I'm On Two Wheels Again!!!!

Its great that you are on two wheels again. Lets get something straight its not a yzf its a Thunder Ace and I believe 97 is the only year for them. The Grey and silver is the rarer color. A good friend of mine who leads most of our local rides has one and rocks it out. Stock except ohlins shock and internals. BTW he has 65,000 mile on his with no plans of retiring it.

Thanks Johnny....I think they called it the "Thunder Ace" across the pond. They even had the "ThunderAce" decal on theirs. I'm actually getting dressed right now to head downstairs to the garage to do some "fiddling" on it. I'll have some more detailed pics and videos of both the good and the bad for later on. I'm like a kid on Christmas right now. Just too bad it's not going to be as warm as yesterday!

Yea, in Canada and the US they were officially called just YZF1000. To the rest of the world it was known as the Thunderace. Yea, the red/white definitely was the better seller from what I remember back in '97-98.

Wow Billy! thats awesome to see you back on two wheels! I'm especially excited because my first Yamaha was a new '99 model YZF1000R which I bought new in 2000.... It was red/silver, what a bike it was too! I never had a chance to change anything on it when I had it, but it was faster than I ever needed back then... here's a few pics of it when it was new 10 years ago...

I was mistaken about the nomenclature but it was the only year that model was available in the US. The R1 came in 98 but the yzf was still available overseas till 2003

Yea, that was the only bike I ever bought brand new. I bought a red/white one in the Winter of '97 and picked it up in the Spring of '98. Didn't keep it long, but it totally hooked me. I still remember how fast I thought that bike was ;)

Yeah me too - on how fast it felt!!! Holy crap, it felt like a saturn rocket!
I remember dragging off v8 sedans at the lights and limiting my revs to about 6000rpm and I would still make them look like they left the hand brake on!!!
