FZ1 in NH down but coming back!

Thanks all. I'm really bummed out right now. The only ache this morning is my left arm. No visible damage, just sore to lift outward. Part of me wants them to include the frame and total it, and most of me wants them to cut a check and let me start repairs. As I said, the mods aren't an issue as I am covered up to $6k so if it is totaled, I can either work with the guy to remove and not claim a lot of mods, or include everything as it sits and let them take it all to the point I have to start over.

Things I could take out of the claim: Power Commander, SpeedoDRD, CD Seat Cowl, Arrow Headers, SS blue brake lines, Top Saddlery seat, Evotech FE kit and exhaust hanger, Penske 8983 with reservoir, power socket, EBC sintered pads, Euro Sport Scoops (need to check carefully) and the brand new Pilot Power 4 tires. If I don't take them, insurance covers 100% replacement but I feel that is a waste as these are all perfectly usable. The only stock part I don't have to put back on is the OEM rear shock so I may be in a hurry to find one. The only big mod I cannot trade out is the Ivan's ECU but they would have to pay out that money and I'll send it with the new bike's ECU down to Ivan.

Mods lost to the claim are the CD speed screen, Two Bros slip-on, heated grips, Ivan's flash and OEM belly pan with my faux CF decals. Those are all definite...

I guess most of me says let me have the money and fix this. I'd hate to have to de-mod or lose this bike. I'm going to do a detailed inspection tonight to see what else might be out of sorts though. Could be more than my cursory inspection uncovered.

I just spoke to the insurance rep. They will be contacting me by tomorrow afternoon for an appointment with an adjuster. She did state that they are more than willing to work with me regarding undamaged third-party parts should the bike be considered a total loss. If it is the same guy that came out for my wife's bike, he was excellent at covering all possible damage and issued her check on the spot.

Mike, if I'd known what I know now, I'd have parked the bike in the middle of the hood. :D It would have been cut and dry!

Aaron, no, the bike isn't that bad, but when insurance comes knocking and adds up parts? I did a quick spreadsheet using Partshark fiche to add up parts damaged. Couple that with the helmet and third party stuff (not including what I can remove and keep), I'm at $5,952.74 before adding any labor costs. If they exclude the frame, we're at $4,302.25 before labor. NADA lists the bike at $7,700 with a full custom exhaust only. Labor for a shop is going to be at least $2k for all those parts on a new frame, if they include it.... Well above the cost of fixing.

I just hope it isn't a battle with them and they make it easy, be it fix or replace.

I need to go over it with a fine-toothed comb and see what else is possibly broken. Could be a bunch of plastic tabs for headlights and various fairing pieces, bar could be bent, risers, etc... It sure doesn't take much of a hit to totally phuck up a bike.... wow!

As for a buy-back... out of the question. I'd then have a salvage titled bike that is worthless and if it takes another hit, I'm out a bike period because they will not insure a salvage.

A map view showing the location, traffic and my resting place....

Light blue is parked cars, yellow blocks are cars moving with me on the one-way, blue is my path with the crude drawn FZ1 at the end, X with orange is the car stopped and the green with X is the jeep stopped. This is a left-hand turn, up-hill with bushes/plants/tree to the left of my bike and a row of cars next to a retaining all in the left corner lot. Totally boxed in... bad situation to be in during rush-hour downtown traffic. Not ever coming this way on any bike again unless I have to and it will only be the outside line if that happens as there's plenty of exit routes possible be it Waters St. or the right side business lots.
