My son bought a '11 Raider a couple of weeks ago, immediately piped it and put on power commander, finally let me wrestle away the keys yesterday. Sweet ride, reminds me of my Harley days, but with much better tranny and brakes. No replacement for my sweet FZ, but could be a stable-mate some...
SV's
Actually, my '03 SV got amazing mileage. Around 50 mpg's if I remember right. Even the TL did. I like my FZ, tho. Do miss the ST sometimes, but it got terrible mileage when really pushed. I wish I could have kept them all, also!!
For what it is worth, I traded an '06 ST 1300 for my FZ. They are great bikes, very smooth and fast for their weight. Loved the electric windshield on cold morning commutes. The weight was the biggest problem to me, and the linked brakes were a pain to service. Had a first-gen Concours, if the...
Thanks;
For the feedback, a little apprehensive to pjspin0331, lol. No offense to the WolfTamer. It seems like all the Concours owners named their bikes(I had mine for almost 8 yrs.) and kept them for a long time, about the same with the ST group. The TL's are "rare" enough, they seem to be the...
OK, this will be weard to some but important to me. I started naming my bikes several years ago after a girl friend was so jealous of it. All was good, Connie for the Concours, STacey for the ST1300. Upon selling my TL (Scarlet)to my son, and trading STacey for the FZ, I couldn't find a name...
Hey, just gutted my cat, looking to do AIS block-off. Do I leave the reed valves, or just cover them up? Know it doesn't matter, just wonder how you did it. Thanks, Bill
Hey, thinking of doing block-off plates for the AIS, do I gut the diaphrams, ect, or just cover them up? Sure it doesn't matter for end result, just curious what everyone else was doing. Thanks, Bill
VA Rider pegged it, but also look for the wear bars. What do you guys thing of the new dual tread compounds? Harder compound in the middle to reduce flat spotting. I have mixed feelings on that. Always settled for a 'sport-touring' tire for mileage and decent stick, always worried a lot about...
I get this on all the sites. WD 40 should never be used to clean an o-ring chain, it degrades the o-ring, very quickly! Kerosene is what all the manuals suggest. I am then a big fan of Blue Label PJ 1. If put on at the end of a ride, then left overnight, the carrier evaporates, then it will not...
A little history, Had a Concours named Connie, we all called 'em Connie, I think. An SV called Suzy. An ST called STacey, And a TL called Scarlet. Went to the trouble to find the Chinese translation on Scarlet, for the windshield. Trying to name the FZ, which is becoming the favorite bike I have...
Indiana boy!
I live here in western Indiana. I have been to the Dragon and surrounding areas about every year for the last ten years. When I want a little shorter ride, I head for Brown County, down by Bloomington. 43, 135, 45,46,446. But, sadly, we are facing the same draconion law enforcement...
I had a Sargent on my SV, it was very comfortable. But at just less than $300, I found a Yamaha Comfort Saddle for less than $200 at M&Rcycle, Ashville, NC, got it, looks and feels great, no long ride yet...........Bill
Hey, me again. Got my 3M film. Worked out in the end, looks great! A word of warning, some films come with protective film over, some don't. I ruined my first attempt figuring witch I had. The film is a bear to get seperat, but pretty straight forward after that. Is almost invisible......Bill
