Ohh I don't know Dustin. There is a hill not far from me. I may take her over there (after I get the seat back on) and ride 'er down this steep, curvy, giant, hill. Oooohhhhh,,ahhhh, now that's more like it . . . . . ;^)

Nice and quiet too . . . .. :rmwl:
 
If spark issue is as simple as a new CDI, I'd be tempted to at least do that much.

When my RZ carbs get plugged its always been the pilots - it runs on choke but as soon as it warms up and you try and take it off choke, it won't idle. If yours has similar carb prob, once you get spark issue resolved, it should crank. Carbs are not hard to work on and easy to get set close enough to run well.
 
Thanks Duster . . . . . I've been looking at the CDI unit's, the mod to the unit's (well documented on how to modify the newer unit to fit). So, basically, I am still pondering . . . . .... heh,heh,,, :beer:
 
The RZ today

I got a couple more pics of the progress. The ol' girl is looking up !! . . . .:smokin2:

After setting the tank in place I secured the rear rubber bumper and tightened the thru bolt.

Next I hung the front cowling after installing the rubber ring-seal around the headlight.

Just before quitting time I gave the drive chain a light coat of acid free oil . . .
Yep. Definitely lookin' UP !! :noworries:

Thanks Troy. When the time comes, I'll be needing a strong kicking leg to crank 'er over. I will be calling YOU !! You can kick and I'll hold the coil wires and check for a spark . . . . . Yee OUCHHHH !!! that stings !! Wooowhoooo!!!! :banghead:

Thanks T . . . .! I have been detailing the bits and pieces as I re-assemble the ole girl.

I ALWAYS tag each and every nut, bolt, and washer when I take them apart.

After cleaning them I make sure and re-tag them, and mark the order of replacement. My old, feeble mind, can't always remember all the small details it seems. . . . heh,heh,

Sure makes it go back together much easier. But, hey, , , you guys already KNOW all that . . ... !!

Ohh yeah, , , here are a couple more pics.

Today, I got the front fender on and plugged in the speedometer cable with a little dag of lithium grease. I also installed the chainguard and the seat.

Wow. . . . she is really starting to look up now . . . .. sweeeeeet !

Mmmhhhhhhh , , , decision's, decision's, decision's---- should I keep'er,, , should I sell'er, , ,, , mmmmmhhhhhhh..... I must ponder some more.

But, I cannot ponder while looking at such a rare, and beautiful yellowbird . . . .. uh-huh, no-no, :deadhorse:

Ahh, thanks guys !! 8^) It's amazing what a little cleaning and a couple of coats of quality wax will do to a 28 year old beauty queen. heh,heh,

After I got the side panels on, the fuel selector knob installed, and the chainguard secured in place, I was tempted to kick 'er over and ride around the neighborhood.

Ohh wait . . . . . it doesn't run yet. daaaang . . . . .
 
Gary, how close are you to Decater? Ryan schnitz has good rates. I dont know if he works on older bikes much but i do know his personal bike is a 198? Honda 350. We drive over a hour to get there but its worth it. It may be worth a email to him. She may start pretty easy if it all tuned up.

Hey Mike, thanks for the headsup on Ryan's in Decatur. I am still pondering the idea of a possible sale. Half of me says, let her go. Let someone who KNOWS these babies get her ticking on both cylinders. The other half of me says, keep her you fool. What are you thinking?? Are you nuts ??

I just happen to have this weekend open my NY friend . . . . :welcome:

Hahahaha!!! No wonder your knees are killing you Gary! Your kneeling on a gravel driveway buddy!!! Get some tiler's knee pads like I use! Oh, and sorry bud.......that $250 is going with me to the DMV tomorrow morning so I can finally get my new baby out on the road. If the weather is good tomorrow, I may even take her out around the neighborhood right after work!
