Pyro's Twisted Texas Tour '12

2 weeks to go!!!
I'm really getting excited. Picked up a pair of Corbin Beetle Bags for the trip. I need to sand them and paint them to match my Skunk paint scheme. I will probably put some Bondo-Glass fiberglass reinforced filler in there somewhere just to make sure they are sealed up and water tight since I'm sanding fiberglass.

Those look great! would love to have a set.

Yes, if everyone will PM me their actual names, cell phone numbers, and names/numbers of emergency contacts, I'll assemble and send back out together.

Also, please confirm that you need a room Saturday night in Camp Wood and when and where you will join the ride.

Friday and Sunday night are at my lakehouse.

Jeff

Ok - I'll admit speeds through the sisters might be a little slower this run. Hopefully rain will be sporadic and best-case it blows through faster! :unworthy:

Shouldn't be too much of an issue and roads may be a little clearer. I'm looking forward to the camaraderie - and am packing the water-proof liner and tank-bag cover.

Leaving Houston about 9a Friday for lunch in Lockhart for BBQ. See y'all at Daisy Dukes (unless they're closed, in which case we'll hit another restaurant in the immediate area.

if you want to sign on to my twitter account, I'll keep everyone informed with updates as we go. @jeffarnim

I'm in a real pinch for time! The good thing about working 7 days on - 7 days off is that I did not have to burn one single second of vacation time for this trip.
LOL
The bad part is working 7 days in a row!!!!!! :frown:
I don't know if I will have the Beetle Bags painted in time for the trip. I got them sanded and primed but now comes the tricky part. Painting these suckers is not too easy. I was hanging them by a wire but the weight was too heavy so I had to modify a pole and stick inside the box. Then paint around the outside.

I'm going to paint the them to match the paint scheme of my Skunk. After seeing the prices at ColorRite, etc. I decided to go to Home Depot and get the closest match I could with a rattle can. I just couldn't justify spending $200 - $250 on materials alone so I went with the cheaper solution. I know it can turn out good but I really have to take my time and do this right. IDK - I may have some primer gray Beetle Bags on the Hill Country Trip. :D

I also had a seat mod that I was going to do because I will put on about 1000 miles with this trip. I sure did want to have comfortable seating but the base foam I ordered has not come in yet and I don't think I will have time to do anything else except get the new tires on and calibrate the carbs. Just not enough hours in the day.

Looks like most of the OA group has dropped out.
I know that FZ1Azul said he will meet us Sat. He is a good guy. I met him on the Arkansas Trip last year. Recon Viper has said that he will join the group at some point (posted on the OA Site).
I'm sorry that the OA Trip fell apart. There were some cool guys that had to back out. PLus I thought it would be cool to have both groups ride together.
BUT I still think we will have fun.

I'm in unless the total Ship truly hits the fan and it could happen with weather but.............

I don't know whether I'll ride up to Boerne for breakfast and then retrace the route back or just cool my heels in beautiful downtown Pipe Creek, Texas and form up as the ride passes.

Any of the folks from the other ride still having some interest really should consider coming aboard. To the best of my knowledge, there are rooms available and I will be on the ride, so there will be someone you can outrun without too much difficulty and have bragging rights.

I'm pretty sure that Pyro and Hail are coming no matter what. I think I will also because I need to go by Texas State and pick up some transcripts. I will just go through San Marcos on the way to Lockhart Friday morning.
I know you live in the area but I would suggest Sat morning. That Sat morning breakfast looks pretty freaking good. LOL Much better than Dennys!!!! I am going to chow down on that!!

I agree!! I hope some more people jump in. Especially since our most recent "Texas" thread. We have a bunch of members - I hope some of them will come out and join us.

I'm probably just going to ride Saturday. Too many things going on. Where should I meet everyone? I'll be up at the crack of dawn and on the road by 6.

I'll be posting on Twitter periodically as we progress.

Pete - check the overview at the top of the thread for timing. You can probably meet us for breakfast. :sinister:

We are definitely doing the ride. Won't be like this.....
