We decided to head to Porteau Cove today for some stargazing. There's a meteor shower tonight and we had hoped to catch that as well. Alas, it's clouding over here in Vancouver but that didn't put a hamper on some fun

I just got back from a long weekend in LA to take some respite from the bone-chilling winter cold at home. It was a well-deserved break and it also gives me a chance to update this thread!

We were picked up from the airport and headed straight to Santa Monica for some sunshine. It was a beautiful 24*c (75*f) which is EXACTLY what we needed. Just a few days ago in Vancouver, it was -11*c (12*f). Imagine how good it felt to be in t-shirt and shorts

To have this amount of sunshine and spring blooms at this time of year is quite a thing. Perhaps it doesn't bode well for the water supply but it's certainly a treat

Go into the bar and ask who the artiste is. I've stopped there for lunch a couple of times but never bothered to ask about the ants.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the rhino sculptures back up the road in Wollombi have gone. I wonder what happened to them.
 
I've got a strange aversion to that place! Must be 40yrs ago when it was the back of nowhere on a dirt road me and my brother were nearly out of fuel and stopped there. Just had a "Deliverance" feeling about it then and can't shake it still!
 
BC, like the rest of the West Coast, has been hit with a ton of forest fires. There's some pretty big ones not too far from Vancouver and all the smoke has been heading our way.

This was the sky when I woke up Monday morning
