So I got myself a pretty good deal on some stuff.
I got a full Micron exhaust system and a PC3 with O2 Eliminator and 9V adapter for 650 shipped. The Micron is black, and the can is in immaculate condition. The header however was ceramic coated or so he says, and it was pretty shot. He told me it would need to be sanded down and refinished so I expected to be doing this.
So I sanded the header down and all the crap was coming off it. Got it down to bare metal, and painted it with the VHT Flameproof 2000* Exhaust paint. I did everything by the book with the application of this paint. I have not gotten very far yet and am going to be updating this as I go. But here is where I am right now.
Yesterday I installed the slip on just for the hell of it. I like the sound but I am anxious to hear it without the baffle as right now its a bit quieter than my DW Holeshot was. I am in LOVE with how it looks. (Sorry no pics lol forgot to take em, will do that tomrorow.)
I just finished getting 4 good coats of paint on the header. They want you to do light coats so that's how I did it. They have been drying now for about 4 hours. If these things hold up the way they look currently, I will be one happy man!
Here are some before shots. You can see the crap on there and how it was wearing off.
And after some sanding...
And some painting..
They have this awesome flat black tone to them. If they stay that way I will be very impressed.
Tomorrow after work I am doing the following:
Install K&N Air Filter, tie flies open, and mod the airbox
Install the PC3 and O2 Eliminator
Setup the PC3 with the closed and open positions and load in perfection map
Bake the headers in the oven as per the curing instructions
After headers cool install header
Enjoy power gain
The reason I am doing my install in that order is because if I put the header on first then I would have to cure it on the bike. I would rather setup the PC3 with the already existing header. Plus the baking method seems to work very well. My oven does not go to 600 degrees so what I will do is the 250, and 400 degree steps and then the last step that would normally be the 600 degree mark will be like the on the bike method and just drive it.
I am beyond excited.
