Ohlins YA 906 Rear Shock Installed

We are talking road bikes here not World Championship Motorcycle racing.
If you need and can afford the super adjustable top-of-the-line Ohlins gear, then go for it.
Nitron, Ohlins, Wilbers, Hyperpro etc all make similar products and they are all way better than the stock rear shock.
You need to choose which one suits your needs and budget not what the MotoGP boys are using.

yeah thats what i was thinking too.. they can make superb set for competition but cant give the road bikes a small taste of it at affordable cost..

now im contemplating between the nitron race model and ohlins ya906..

The Nitron track would be more than sufficient for a road and track bike.
You would save yourself plenty of dough too.
Give Nitron a call and talk to them about your needs, they are very helpful over the phone and will steer you in the right direction.

it is cash saving to get the nitron.. but unfortunately not at my country.. we dont have nitron here.. i have to order straight from them.. i did contact nitron though.. inclusive of shipping for the race model with hydraulic preload adjuster, it cost the same as ohlins ya906 that is available here.. the only safe bet for me getting ohlins is that i have direct technical support in case anything happen..

A differet solution

Hi! I dont know the prices and the choices on the usa market, but here in italy, dedicate to fz1,there are the ohlins unity(like the yours),the bitubo,fg gubellini,W.P...every stuffs are on the same livel(halfracing, compression, extension, preload and interaxle and price(from 900 to 1100€)..My tecnical manager(ex national sbk rider and wild card in the mondial)show me a cheaper but better solution(only for after market parts I spend more than 11000€ so a monoshock was not a problem): With a piggy back unity(not the Fz1 original one),in collaboration with Andreani Group(official italian ohlins dealer and race assistent),he does for me a rigeneration with only ohlins parts and the price goes down drammatically!! he gave to me a new R1 unity(I'm a good customer.....)and I paid only the rigeneration(made with my specifics:weigth/direction use/drive style/passenger ecc.)..if will not good,I will buy another full price one,but after 15 months and a lot of km on street and track, the solution works perfectly for me. You can feel every click and after a 8 hours track day there are no differences from the morning. I tryed fz1 with expensive solutions like the yours but I dont need the change! Cost? 300€.. I've no the remote preload but with 700€ I buyed an R1 race antijump friction that works in amazing way!!!
A different solution from yours Ridges:)

3 immages: 2 of my mono and 1 of the Bitubo's unity (one of the best in italy)

2011 Bitubo XFE31 shock for FZ1

hydraulic preload adjuster, high/slow speed compression adjustments, rebound adjustment.

looking again back at your pics, it look slightly different from the XXF31 in Bitubo site (img below).. either that, or my eyes just need to be tweak.. LoL..

is it because to cater to FZ1, the build is slightly diff? do you have more pictures of it at diff angles?

and yes, it's at mezzo but diff pricing..

here's how the shock look like after being installed.

custom spring rate and oil weight.

all controls are easily accessible from either side.

preload adjusted fully machine out from metal. no plastics involve unlike ohlins.

a single piece setup is more compact.. and with no extra hose from the adjuster to nick into something/somewhere is very crucial.

anybody keen for bitubo? i might link you guys up for a good deal!

i wouldn't place the adjuster near a heat source, eg the exhaust pipe.. too much heat for shock oil ain't exactly a good thing you know..

subtle but given the major routing of the hose and clips, i will still go for the 1 pc compact concept.
