New Yamaha Project???

Nothing really new this week. The new job has been consuming all of my time. The good thing is I'm really enjoying what I'm doing. This is the best position I had since about 2006, seriously.

I did drop the body parts off at the painters last Saturday.

I spoke with the painter today. Typical OKC.

"Do you want me to pick the parts up and start working on them?"

No, I only dropped them off three weeks ago!!!

Seriously, we called a painter to get an estimate on painting our kitchen cabinets, "No, that is too much work, I don't want to do it."

So much for a recession. I don't think I've ever turned down work.

And we have heard this several times here...

As this is my build blog I need add a few notes so I don't forget. I've found over the years that I refer back to my threads to recall work/settings/tuning that's been done.

Chris Wedman is really a super talented mechanic/machinist/tuner/motor-head.

He did beautiful porting but also two machinings I would have never considered.

1) For the Clutch Boss Chris machined the XVS Boss down to work with the XV Pressure Plate. This mod matches the XV counter shaft (need for chain drive) with the taller XVS 5th gear.

(I also learned that Chris can make any custom sprocket that is needed!)

2) The XVS cam chain tensioners were too short to properly tension the chain. So Chris machined tips from hardened steel and TIG'ed them onto the ends of the tensioner.

He is slower than molasses in February in Dustin's garage, BUT the attention to detail and desire to make it right is like no other.

I couldn't believe the price. A bargain too. $2,000 for machining, porting, assembly, sourcing parts, parts, and tax. One place wanted $800 alone for porting!
