I need to finish the electrical. I can't remember how the negative terminal connects to the harness and the grounds.

I also don't have the stupid body work back from the paint.

Taking a wiring harness completely off is a PITA. You may be able to find some pictures of other project bikes to help you out though? Once the harness is positioned on the bike the right way it gets a *little* easier. Time to break out the multi meter and do some educated guessing!

I've always been a fan of photographing every step in the tear down for reference in the rebuild. I made the mistake once of not doing it & spent hours & hours figuring out how to put it all back together.

I love what you're doing with this bike, I wish I had the time to do a restoration, maybe once the young one has grown up & frees up some of my time.

The neutral light works in neutral, the low oil light comes on when the starter button is pressed...huh.

I did manage to find on this thread two photos that should help with the wiring issues.

I'm now calling the old laptop Lasereth... It's fired up today, I ran to Sam's a bought an external drive and back it up.

I no longer have the 24" cable that goes from the starter relay to the start. I looked high and low.

But being the creative type that I am, (tongue in cheek), I tripled over an extension cord, jury rigged one, and got the motor to pop! YES!!!!

Off to AutoZone to see if I can find a cable that I can make into a real cable.

Well I managed to get a nice big backfire thay shot the muffler across the garage!

I'm currently eliminating variables. For example I removed the aftermarket TCI and put the OEM one back on.

For the cable i was able to buy all of what I need at Lowe's for $5.

IT RUNS! IT RUNS! IT RUNS!!!!! First push of the starter she fired!!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

I had the coil plugs to the main harness backwards!!!! :shaking head:

She sounds like a freaking BEAST! Deep and cammy. :sinister:

Now I just need a gas tank....
