It Finally Happened!

Not too bad. Just a patch around 1-1/2" x 2" on the left side. The problem is that it was just about time for a new lid anyway so this just secured the deal. I wasn't planning on going to Deals Gap with my Bell anyhow. I guess it just happened a month sooner than expected. Also, the Bell was just over 6 years old.

Regardless of how good or bad a helmet looks after a crash it should be replaced. If the Styrofoam (or whatever other material they use) inside the shell got compressed absorbing the impact you wont be able to tell and next time you crash it may not offer the same level of protection...just my :2cents:

Your 100% right T. I wouldn't trust that helmet again. It served it's purpose and will now be "put to pasture"!

I agree totaly. I was just wondering due to him getting knocked out.

It's also recommended to replace your helmet every 5 years, due to the inlining get's wider/looser and the helmet no longer fits proper around your head...
 
Michele and I both have the RF-1000 lids. Great helmets!

But... my only complaint is that the liner isn't removable and it fogs up VERY easily even in moderate weather. So, the next Shoei on the block for me is the X-11 model. This one!

Billy, that is a GREAT idea about the camera. Make sure you set the camera for a lower video quality to that you get more footage per card. I don't know what size cards you own and how long the commute is but you'll want to capture as much as possible including any aftermath of an incident. (Be sure you tell all parties involved, including the police, that the recording is taking place. In NH, if you record police on official business, they can charge you with any one of three crimes with varying levels of punishment. I do not know what NY laws are but it would be wise to gain that knowledge. :tup:

I hear ya Eric. In my case the commute is only 6-1/2 miles there and another 6-1/2 back, so in the event that nothing happens, I can just delete the two vids each day when I get home. I do however run a 4gb card which is good for at least 1-1/2 hours.

And about what we were talking about yesterday on the phone, I called Geico yesterday after we hung up and again today. It's been 6 days since the accident and still no claim from the other guy! Surprise, surprise! I went off on Geico today! I told them that don't they find it strange that if this guy has a brand new car, and I T-Boned him as he suggests, that he would have filed a claim already???!!!! I told them that I would give them my next 4 paychecks because I'm so confident that he won't claim. If he does, the damage will surely show who's at fault here! I told them that I can garantee that the other guy has front end damage to his car and nowhere else! It's almost as if they don't give a damn about what happened! I again told them to get someone out here to look at my bike and the damage it sustained. Anyone with an ounce of common sense can plainly see that I hit No One!! But they still tell me that they can't send anyone since it's only liability that I have. I just want to "climb a tower" sometimes! I told her politely that if she didn't have something positive to tell me to please don't call anymore! I told her that she is only pissing me off and then hanging up, leaving me in the same situation as before, so spare me the aggravation! Auto and bike insurance is a one way street. You satisfy them for years and years with your premium payments, yet have one accident and good luck getting an ounce of satisfaction! What a racket!!
 
Here's the new setup thanks to Fade (FZ1OA), and Tony. The missing paint on the throttle side is nothing to be concerned with because it won't be seen anyway once the controls are on. The best part is that these bars were filled with sand and then plugged with what appears to be wax or clear silicone. That should quell any vibrations. I guess I'll work on this with Richie on Saturday afternoon. I'll get some pics up at that time. One step closer!!!

Yea, after you get the new turn signals you'll be ready to hit the road. You just might be riding this Sunday, although the weather looks iffy at this point.
 
A bit shocked

Wow, I just saw this after being away for a couple of weeks. First off, I'm glad that you faired OK (road rash and soreness aside). Sucks to have your pride and joy damaged, no matter how (relavtively) light. I am sure that you won't have it that way for long.
 
Tourmaster Has Arrived!

Well, my new Tourmaster Draft Air Jacket arrived. As my luck would have it, the liner didn't show up with the jacket so I have to call them Monday to have them send me one. The jacket literally fits perfect. It is extremely comfortable even with the armor against your skin. I like the fact that the back tapers down low and has a big zipper to hook up to your riding pants. So everything is done now and the only thing left is to go down and install everything on the bike. Once Spydar gets back, I will set up a meet to pick up the turn signal. I should be ready to ride by tomorrow. Here are the pics of the jacket. I'll have pics of the bike this evening. After we finish I'm running up to a local car show with Richie first and then I'll post the pics when I get back.

Also, Richie and I drove over to the intersection where the accident took place this morning at 5:30am and posted a bunch of flyers on all the bus stops and telephone poles. We probably put close to a dozen everywhere. We hope that someone who saw the accident will come forward for me and give witness to the accident. I have my fingers crossed.
