Hey everyone, new to the FZ1 world & have questions

I have an opportunity to to purchas an 07' FZ1 with 5k miles for $4,000 & its the original owner selling it, seems like a decent buy to me.

I have been a long time Kawi rider, ZX10r, ZX6R & a 650R & had Suzuki dirt bikes & dual sports.

I have found that the older I get the harder it is to ride the ZX10r without it killing my back on longer rides & am interested in the ergo's of the FZ1 for longer trips.

Do you guys think thats a decent deal? I appreciate all your input.

If your getting a little older and still want to ride a sport bike, but in a in a friendlier sitting position the FZ1 is a good choice. The bike is quick and handles pretty good. I am an 07 owner.
 
I think that's a great price for an 07' with low miles. Just make sure to check the frame really good for cracks in the welds before you purchase. It wasn't a common issue but some 06's and 07's suffered from a bad weld from the factory.
 
Agreed with what Billy said, if you don't know what he is talking about just google "Gen 2 FZ1 Frame Crack". Many don't have the issue but something to keep an eye on.

Also the bike looks pretty stock minus the radiator guards, any clue if there are any internal mods?

Regardless, that's a great price!
 
Thanks for all the quick responses guys & the tips on what to look for. I will definitely look at the welds!!! There are no mods on this bike at all, first thing is to get the fender eliminator kit then an exhaust after that. Maybe get the handlebars powdercoated black, that should have come from the factory black to begin with.

I will probably pick it up this weekend, I will post up some better pics when I get it.

Here is what happened to my ZX10 when a guy decided to cross 3 lanes & try to go thru me to get to a mexican restaurant. It is currently in the shop getting fixed, so I started looking at craiglist motorcycle porn & found this FZ1

Wow! Glad your okay after that get off. Cagers suck! That's a hell of a price for an 07' with so few miles. I'd take a test ride and if she is as good as she looks in the pictures I'd go for it!
 
Here is what his craiglist ad said: new mountain tires? what are those? Never seen those before. So yes i will be putting a new set of good street tires on there, he said he lives on some gravely roads.

Stryder, that was one of the first things that caught my eye, they looked odd. I didn't say anything as I am not overly familiar with all the tires out there.
 
I am excited to pick this up on Friday evening, for a month I have been riding my Suz DR650 back & forth to work which is a 30 mile each way ride, I have to say that bike is fun for a dual sport. Since my ZX10 is in the shop getting put back together after getting run off the road by a cager, getting back on a litre bike will be nice. Here is what happened to my ZX10r
