Anyone else had an awesome ride today?

I had a great ride today, albeit short. I spooned on new Dunlop 605 tires on my WR250R and just had to try them out. I only rode about 25 miles, a mixture of tarmac and dirt. They work great.
Yeah
I have 606s on my DR650. I liked them not bad on the street and good in the dirt. They wear well too, even on the heavy DR.

Probably won't get out today but have done about 800 miles over the last week. Tomorrow looks like seasonal conditions 50-60 degrees which will be good enough for me.

Got out with my Nephew. Newbie. Just got his license and bought a Triumph 765. Nice Bike!! Did maybe 150 miles .

Central New England is back in an Indigenous peoples summer. Got in about 200 yesterday.

Was low on gas with 180 mi on the odometer when i pulled into a gas station in rural Ashfield, MA.
Go to grab my wallet and it's not there. Call the wife 100 miles away and she found it where it fell out of my pocket in bedroom, while pulling on my riding gear.

Walk into the station to see if there's any way to manually enter my credit card info to buy gas. Attendant says sorry Mobil won't allow. Walked back out side and started going through my pockets and repair kit to see if I had squirreled away a $20........No luck. After a few more minutes the attendant walked out into the parking lot holding a $10 bill. What a relief. There is literally nothing else in Ashfield other than that one store.

So now I need to get back out that way (no problem, best roads in Mass) to return his loan. (Gotta love Good Samaritans). Have to admit I've been extremely lucky with people helping me. on the bike.

Last week I was stopped in one of my favorite rest spots beside a country road when four bikes, each about five minutes apart all pulled over and asked if I needed help. By the time the fourth guy stopped I was starting to get annoyed by the intrusions. Too much assistance is still usually better than none.

Threw a $50 into my helmet liner for the next emergency.

Got in a nice ride to the beaches in RI on Nov 1. Can't say I went in but there were quite a few there in the water. I was near Charlsetown RI.

Drove through Pachaug State Forrest in CT on the way home. Just basically a network of dirt roads through forests that have reclaimed the old farm lands. The road grader must have been there the day before as there were golf ball to softball sizes rocks/gravel uniformly spread across the roads. Started down a steep road and it was all I could do to keep upright. Once moving hitting rear brake just caused bike to slide without slowing and even first gear was way too fast to negotiate the rocky surface. Got it stopped using front and rear brakes and then nursed it to the bottom of the several mile long hill.

Gotta love an adventure that doesn't damage anything. Daylight Saving is now upon us.IMG_20241110_134611.webp

I put together a route to go see part of the state that I hadn't really seen before... up to the farmlands between Louisville and Elizabethtown. The farms up there are a lot more like back home... much bigger scale. Some nice roads... not as curvy as here, but pretty good. Met some good people and kept an eye out for some of the old country general stores. Found one in the tiny town of Custer, KY.

It was a different kind of ride... more site-seeing than just chasing curves. about 270 miles. Nice day!

Nice place to kick back for a Dew break as well. The Ford truck looked pretty good too. a bit of patina, but the body was pretty straight and sounded pretty good pulling out. Nice guy driving it. You can also see the tractor pulled up to the gas pumps. Neat little farm town!

Do the Dew. Nice pics, nice place to stop, I need to start taking some along my way in New England. I have 50 billion old pics of my routes, so I've been getting lazy taking current pics. I have a similar or the same white Shoie, love it.

I use to travel for work into Louisville and always enjoyed the blue grass horse farms on my way down to Stearns. The gentleman that owned the business I visited grew up in the coal mining town and always told great stories about his rags to riches success and what life was like including working for script, and only being able to use it in the company store.

By the way... I'm getting older... I can find weight much easier than I can lose it... so it was a Diet Dew. :)

Stearns... Some nice roads around there! I have a regular fuel stop in Stearns on my easterly routes. Hwy 92 toward Monticello is really nice. I think they call that part of the "Yamacraw Trail", and just north of Stearns, if you turn east on 478 toward Williamsburg, that's part of the "Copperhead Loop" Nice curves out there! 90 past Cumberland Falls is a great road if you can miss the tourists, and the KY Rattlesnake isn't far to the north, between Somerset and London. 790 from Monticello up to Somerset is really nice too. East of I-75 and it gets even better.

We did a "Danger Noodle Rally" last year and ran 790 up to the Rattlesnake, then over to Manchester (great burger at Pat's Snack Shop), and ran 421 (The Snake) down to near Cumberland Gap. That was a solid 500+ mile day, and it was great... until the monsoon hit as we turned west in Cawood KY. hahaha! We have to do that again without the storms.

The company I use to visit in Stearns was Outdoor Venture Corp. They were the biggest employer back then. I use to have to visit several defense contractors in Knoxville as well. Was always frustrating being in those areas with a rental car.

Got out today with my Nephew and buddy 315 miles up to Hawks Nest and mountain riding. Temps in high 30's in the morning warmed up to the 50's in the afternoon. This is definitely my favorite time of year to ride!

Just looked at a map and I'm 200 miles from there (about 3.5 hrs) unfortunately Rt 84 is better suited for semi-trucks.

It's really nice riding out there. It's worth the trip. Weekends in the summer get a little crowded. But this time of year not bad.
There is some nice camping spots if you want to take a couple of days. There is endless nice roads to ride. Try it.

From what I remember is the Perelli’s st performed well. Didn’t get good milage tho. It’s hard to beat 14k on a set of PR4s. On my 3rd set of those. Might get the R6s next, heard they last even longer.
Yeah I was reluctant to change from the PR 4s. But the PR 6s are that much better.

It kind of sounds like no awesome rides have been happening...

Here in South Central Kentucky, we've had a couple of snow days and it seems like we have cold days, or nice, warm (50s) days... but rain. I don't mind so much getting caught in a bit of rain, but I don't go out to ride in the rain. My in-laws' family get-togethers seem to always fall on the best ride days... Dangit! Yesterday... high of 60. Rain in the late afternoon, but dry before.... NOPE! Had to hang with the in-laws... Rain today.

I'm putting together some ride plans, and I'm ready to jump on the opportunity... family and work seem to be keeping me off the bike. My baby is sitting in the shop with a brand new PR6, just waiting to be scrubbed in...

So far, it looks like the rain will go away for this coming weekend... but highs in the mid 30s... chance of flurries Friday.

I'm having withdrawals, so the next ride needs to come soon! Maybe Christmas Day could be a ride day, but I think I'd get shot for that one..

Mapping out new ride territory in the mean time...

Same situation in central New England, counting the days and scouring the weather reports. No where near as mild as last year as far as winter riding goes.

Solstice in less than a week. Next week may touch 50 with rain, it's 18 degrees as I type.

I was out for about an hour and a half Friday. 33 degrees here in NJ. Wouldn't call it awesome! But it's always nice to get out for a bit.
33F has me impressed.

See any drones?

May get to low 40s this week in Mass. Lot's of salt on roads as well as the new (for my area) Molasses / Beet juice snow melt treatments. Was behind a couple spray trucks yesterday in my car.
