How are you able to go that far? Is your bike a gen 1 or 2? Have you changed the jetting or mapping? My stock gen 2 only goes about 150 miles before I'm nervously looking for a gas station.

So I originally posted this when I was breaking it in and now I have over 5000 miles clocked. It's been almost 4 months. As these engines get miles on them, they get a lot smoother. I have the dreaded fairing buzz now so maybe this weekend I'll take the fairing apart and re-weather strip it.

I think I already replied to your post over at thegsresources.com. I have owned both and have settled on a gen 2 FZ1. It's a better sport bike. I think the build quality is a lot higher as well.

I've read that the stock mirrors create a lot of turbulence. I'm so tall that it doesn't matter because I don't have any wind protection anyway, but the people that have switched to bar end mirrors say it makes a huge difference in comfort.

You mean you didn't almost power wheelie out of the dealership parking lot???

When you put the key and turn it to "On" are you letting the bike do the startup sequence? (full tach sweep and blinking lights.) While it's doing that, the fuel injectors are priming. If you don't wait, you won't have enough fuel ready to start the bike.

I recently rode to the west coast and back and on the way there I didn't wear ear plugs, on the way back I decided to buy some and it made the trip soooooo much more enjoyable. After three 12 hour days of riding I didn't feel like I had gone through a mine field in a tank.

actually Yamaha is one of the few companies that doesn't play as many games as the other companies do with warranties. That's one of the reasons I went with an FZ1 instead of a Bandit 1250.
