Mystery strap that came with the docs

I bought a new 07 recently. I know others here have too.

Did you guys get a 5 inch rubber strap that has rectangular metal loops at the ends with your documentation? What the heck is it for? The dealer didn't know. It came with the documentation from Yamaha (owners manual, riding tips)

did you mean the rubber under the back seat...if i understand?

No, that thing is a mystery too. But I think in another forum they said it's for some kind of locking device. I wasn't familiar with what they were talking about. This one came separate in the package the owner documents.

I wonder if it's some sort of thing to lock your helmet? Maybe it goes thru the loops on the helmet belt and then the loops on it attach under the seat. That's my wild guess.

Mystery Solved!

Was cleaning my new FZ1 and adjusting everything adjustable when I saw it! The mystery strap that came with the owners manual is a replacement strap for the one under the rider's seat that holds the battery in place. Whew, mystery solved.

That also looks identical to the strap that holds down the factory tool kit.
