    Shift pivot breaking

I'm on my third assembly, going ok so far. The dealership figured there was a bad batch of castings, maybe the stock of those '12 pieces is done and the problem is solved. Talk to wherever you bought it. Even if it's off warranty they might fix it if it was a known problem.

The FZ1 above 7k is NUTS.

2-Strokes were very reliable. They would reliably break down every 3 months! Seriously, though, 2-strokes did require frequent rebuilds, but a top end job is way easier than a valve adjustment on an FZ1. I know guys that carry top ends for their 2-stroke snowmobiles in their backpacks. They can...

    Happy Canada Day

To all of my fellow Canadians on the site, happy Canada Day! I got a quick ride in today, and now I'm settling in to some of Canada's best beer (Keith's) and BBQ beef (AAA Alberta Strip Loins). I hope you are all enjoying this holiday as much as I am. Cheers!

    Top speed

Someone told me that try were on a bike identical mine (naked, K&N filter, Yosh R-77, no tuning) and saw 150MPH on GPS on a long straight back road. He told me there was enough room to be 100% sure tree was no more to be had. Of course, I just had to take his word for it.

    What's your cage?

Between my wife and I we have a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer hatchback and a 2001 Subaru Legacy wagon. Our family is growing so we're looking at trading the Lancer on some kind of SUV like a Touareg or XC90. I see a couple of G37 drivers here. My best friend drives a G37x and has been generous enough...

Why Did You Buy your FZ1 ?

It was simple for me. 1. I ride mostly with SS bikes 2. I wanted to keep up 3. I didn't want a SS.

    first prom

Pretty girl, pretty dress. The look on your and your wife's faces is classic, though. It's totally "I don't want this to be happening but have to pretend to be happy for her sake." Our little guy is only one, so we have a bit of time left before we're at that "where did the time go?" moment.

    Remove Front Wheel

I doubt the poor old rafters in my garage would take that kind of weight. As it is the strap is just for balance; most of the weight is on the centre stand. Sounds like a cool setup, though. I would go for that.

Touché. It's not nearly as shocking as seeing my Grandfather's Venture Royale in the same situation. In fairness, it's a quality strap.

    Remove Front Wheel

Bought the proper tools this morning and went at it. I put a lot of miles on, so everything had been off not too long ago. The front axle was a touch tight but it came free without too much trouble. With the wheels off, I figured it was a good chance to degrease the axles and associated parts...

Great! Thanks again everyone for all of the helpful info. I'll pick up the necessary tool and get after it in the morning.

You mean the one that comes with the bike under the seat? I never even thought to look there...

    Remove Front Wheel

It won't be the last time I take the front wheel off this bike so I'm just going to get the proper tool and be done. Does the wheel have to move over a bit to come off (not just drop perfectly straight down) and that is why the callipers have to swing up and clear of the rotors?

    Remove Front Wheel

Not sure why I can't thank posts, but thanks for the good info. I hate cowboying stuff, so I'll just have to buy the tool. Tell me more about having to pull the callipers to remove the front wheel.

    Remove Front Wheel

Would be perfect except my plug socket has the little rubber gripper inside that grabs the plug so that when you are working on a Civic you don't need a magnet to get the plugs up out of the heads
