Soft bags/GPS mount for 1st gen

I'm using (the really good industrial) velcro to mount my GPS to the risers. :) I'm not leaving it on all morning, though.. Thinking of getting the Rocket Hammerhead bag - I have plenty of luggage space (3 givi's) but a tank bag would be handy.. ..a

Why should I get an FZ1?

Just to echo everything said here, to me it is all things - great for running errands around town, for commuting if I can avoid the interstate, and runs up to the hills. Has more power than anyone needs but can be ridden in heavy traffic without difficulty. .. and of course, fits big & tall...

What did you do to your FZ today?

What did you do to your FZ today?

Put the replacement rear rotor on, cleaned & lubed the chain, and mounted the back wheel again. Rode for three hours this evening. There. That's what I did today. Tomorrow I pick up a whole set of calipers from an '01 being parted out, so depending on the weather, I might have rear brakes...

    Another Top Saddlery seat! :D

My Corbin has a split between the main seat and rise to the passenger area. I'm going to see about having it re-done locally with a nice soft leather over the winter. You think saddle-brown goes on a blue FZ1? :) ..a

    Higher wattage bulbs overloading alternator?

Thanks. The modulator I bought is rated for 130W anyway, so that nix's any ideas of using higher wattage bulbs. ..a

    Higher wattage bulbs overloading alternator?

I was about to pull the trigger on some 100/90 bulbs, but was advised against it by a good friend, stating that the alternators aren't designed to handle much more load. As the lights are on constantly, and the headlights draw would be drawing about 10A instead of 5A, I can see his point...

    Lead Weights

Haileyan, is the vibration you're talking about from the engine? I have noticed it a little in the short time I've ridden mine, but I am not using the engine much so far, and I think it would be more noticeable at lower RPM's. I just wondered if I needed thicker grips, as mine don't seem to...

    Kisan headlight modulator

My FZ1 is 2001, but they don't list that on their site. Is the P115W-D what I need? Any suggestions for places to get these for less than $150? https://www.kisantech.com/view_product_pop.php?product=P115W-D While I'm here asking about light, is the low beam really meant to be just the...

    Rear brakes self-destructed

Picture makes chain look dirty, but it's in good shape - the guy did baby it -besides a couple of blems, it looks in showroom condition. Just picked up the big bottle of Rotella T and the Purolator PL14610 - there's plenty of room for the longer filter in there. Wondering if now might be a...

Back in the saddle in Atlanta

Thanks, everyone. The more I read about this bike the more I know the person who recommended it (and sold it to me) was doing right by me! :) He feels like a real d!ck that the brakes went out like they did, but I don't blame him. Yeah, easy on the throttle. Geez, it's touchy! Not at all...

    Rear brakes self-destructed

Bought my blue baby this week and already the rear brakes self-destructed. Net is it appears the seals let in moisture and the corroded piston and bore. Disc is trashed and calipers are suspect. Guy I bought from has tracked down the parts and they are on their way, but just posting here...

Back in the saddle in Atlanta

Howdy! First bike in 23 years, first time I've ridden anything bigger than a 250. Was going to start off with a 600 or so, but my best friend (much older and an experienced rider) convinced me that I could handle a bigger bike, and I am already glad I listened to him. I was apprehensive, but...
