I have owned my 09 Yamaha FZ1 Sy for more than a year now. I picker her up with 8k on the clock, it delightful condition, and have since put a further 11k on the clock. Never any problems whatsoever after first changing the battery, and later on the tyres, oil and filter changes at regular...
May well soon ask the mechanics I trust if they can tune my suspension...which apparently is not a major job, and half hour with them may do the trick?
Other than which, I will change the rear tyre to a different profile, when it naturally needs replacing. May drop the front forks slightly, if...
I can improve my confidence in leaning through adjusting the suspension, setting the sag and replacing the rear tyre with a 55.
I am seeking assistance with the adjustments, and will wait until the present rear tyre has worn out before changing it for a taller profile.
There is also the...
It seems around what I expected...used to get similar on my 07' R6. So to get around 170km from a slightly bigger tank with a much bigger engine, makes sense. I just keep seeing others suggest 35mpg as an average and yet my average seems...far lower. Maybe my calculations are amiss. Yet...
I think there is a slight oddness with the sensor in the tank. Now and then it seems to suggest I am empty and heads to F-trip, yet I turn off and on and the real levels are then shown.
I took the beast for a lengthy ride with a fair amount of 100km/h Plus riding and the mileage was wonderful...
I am absolutely loving the 09 FZ1 I picked up a few weeks back. It has quickly become my favourite devil steed of all time. the power is astonishing and other than still a slight wiggling routine when I filter between small gaps of stationary traffic its proving a huge joy every single ride...
I have the thing! finally. In time for the weekend. Am charging it now. Can hear it...kinda close to bubbling/crackling...??? WHich I have done in the past with other batteries.
How long should I charge it for?
Was going to leave it until the morning?
Will it do any harm? Will likely be 15...
Well, I will see how I get on with this gel battery..as its spring here now. Can wait until closer to winter before pondering my options again, I hope!
I just wondered if the battery I had bought will make any difference to the performance of the bike? It has the same CCA 230 as the OEM battery.

ended up ordering this one last night...Its the same make and gel style as the one I had in my R6, which once charged never once failed. So I thought why not go for the same routine for the Fz1.
Will it make...
When I purchased my fz1 (which the seller told me is a 2009 model but is registered as a 2008 model, and the mechanics placed it as a 2008 model also here in AUstralia?) I was told that it had been sitting for a while. It wouldn't start on my inspection! Was covered in a lot of dust. I returned...
Registered here as a 2008 model. Which makes little difference to me, although I will check the plate you mentioned, mate!
Only thing I am thinking of loosely at this stage is getting another exhaust. May shave a few kgs off the weight? And offer slight increase in power? If I get a slipon...
Picked up the beast this afternoon...after this last week riding a GN250 around Coromandel (NZ) I was extremely eager for the FZ1. After the seller met me, and we chatted for a while he mentioned that the mechanics who did the RoadWorthy said the battery was a bit sluggish. He has hardly ridden...
I am perhaps getting a little ahead of myself and should wait until I have adjusted to the new beast come October! It may well be wonderful as it stands, and if the steering continues to feel heavy/stiff I can then investigate further dropping the bars! Does 5-10mm make a real difference? Costly...
Guess the tyres would make a difference to the feel of the steering/turning...they seem very different to the R6 tyres! More for touring perhaps?
First I have found of R1 forks and new rear shock, yet again these will be mega pricey?? Not aiming for cheapest of the cheap, yet wish to...
