New member welcome thread...

Hi all I have just bought a 2007 FZ1N as Im getting a bit to old for long distance sport bike riding and so far I like it. Its a heaps better bike in my opinion than a Speed triple.
I still have my 06 Gixxer 1000 as well which im going to sell as soon as I can. If you have owned a Gixxer well these things just have so much stomp every where compared to a lot of other bikes it made the Yam seem a bit down on power. But as far as real world riding and comfort go you can beat the FZ and at least I sit on the speed limit a lot more now LOL!!
I live in Australia and have been riding bikes since 1971 and have owned over 20 bikes from a Honda 65 step through to 05 R1, Busa, 08 Speed triple, RG500, just to name a few. Ive owned 3 Honda 750s as well LOL!! I used to love those things.
Anyhow it looks like a great forum you guy's have here so keep up the good work.

Welcome Bender! Glad to have you here. Where in OZ is home for ya? We've got a few others from there as well.

Congrats on the bike! Yes, the FZ1 can seem a little short in sport compared to the other liter bikes, but with a few adjustments and mods, it can certainly keep up and then still go touring afterward! :D

You'll enjoy this place. We keep it very civil here.

Cheers! Ride safe!

Thanks for the warm welcoming FZ1 man LOL!!
I live near Tweed Heads NSW thats about 10mins from the Queensland border.
I think I might have a problem with my son as he wants to ride the FZ1 all the time. He used to have a R1 but now I think he is in love but its my girl not his! I told him he can ride the Gixxer till I sell it but he's not interested its so funny that he likes the FZ that much.:fencers:

uh oh, you better watch out, sounds like an fz1 oedipus complex!:laugh2:

New FZ1 owner

OK i havent posted pics yet but i just bought my first FZ1 (2001 with 8K miles) for $3500...I have researched many bikes before purchasing the FZ...after checking out the forums and bike comparisons i think i have made a really good descision plus after reading some of these threads i decided to go with a black one since they are 2/10ths faster than the others...:laugh2:

LOL!! I have never heard of that word!!
But yes I think you are onto something......:hellno:

its foundations are in greek mythology. oedipus was part of greek mythology, and he unwittingly killed his father (he was orphaned by his father) to be with his mother. and when he realized what he did he gouged his own eyes out.

this is the dictionary definition of "oedipus complex" because if i explain it i probably wont make sense:

Oedipus complex
noun Psychoanalysis
(in Freudian theory) the complex of emotions aroused in a young child, typically around the age of four, by an unconscious sexual desire for the parent of the opposite sex and a wish to exclude the parent of the same sex. (The term was originally applied to boys, the equivalent in girls being called the Electra complex.)

and now you know the story of oedipus and the psychological theory of the oedipus complex!

so basically, watch out for your son, because he might kill you to be with your "love" (the FZ1) :):justkidding:

Hi all,

I'm interducing myself and my wonderfull bike. I got interested in the fZ1 from lurking around this page and FZ1OA. I found a 2001 with 7700 miles, Yoshimura Carbon slip on and Yamaha touring screen. Although the bike had decent tires I brought it home spooned on a set of new Avon Storm Ultra 2's, replaced the fork seals, changed fork oil, put new plugs in it, changed the motor oil, and new handgrips. I have enjoyed this bike for about 300 miles and boydoes it make me smile. I also have a Roadstar Warrior (Midnight Edition).

Welcome to the forum! Great looking 01! Love the Warrior too!

Thanks for the welcome

There is a lot of great riding out here. Lot's of roads along the ocean and a big biker community. Let me know if you ever get a chance to come out.

Cheers,

Rob

:welcome: Rob. My wife and I are considering a ride out of NH up to NS to ride for a few days then take the Cat back to Portland, ME. Perhaps you can be a tour guide? :D Hope to buy you a beer if we head that way.

I've already chimed in on a couple of threads but haven't introduced myself yet. I live on the island of Newfoundland on the east coast of Canada. I've ridden motorcycles for about 25 years, starting on small dual purpose bikes. I got my first street bike at 13 years old, a 400 Yamaha Heritage Special. My last bike was a 1100 Honda Shadow Spirit. That thing was anemic, and going around turns touched hard parts on a regular basis.

I bought my 2007 Raven FZ1 new and only recently started modding. So far I have the Yosh TRC installed, gutted the cat and the ais blocked. I have the PCIII USB in my garage and I'm going to install that soon, and do the Lars air box mod while I'm under the tank. I'm going to be ordering Copper Dawg's small butterflies soon too. I'm expecting big gains from these mods, especially living at sea level.

Great site everyone. Very helpful and informative.
