Anyone else had an awesome ride today?

Lots of riding in the last two weeks. Temps dropped dramatically last night and New England was hit with hard frost. Temps are at 50f at noon. The plan is to head west where its cooler and test out the heated gear that’s been in storage for 6 months. Noticed the electrical connectors were corroded and needed cleaning.

Ended up being an excellent ride, heated gear along with strong sunshine made for much comfort. On the way home I did notice I forgot and important piece i.e. the tall Yamaha touring screen.

Little colder today, just under 50F but expected to go up to mid 50s. I think it might be wise to head to the beaches in RI/Conn on the bike, today. Tomorrow through the weekend look better temp wise.

It's getting colder here too. Might have to start thinking about getting the bikes ready for winter storage soon. :(
Got out for 250 yesterday. Heated gear was appreciated before noon but not needed after. I thought the rain earlier in the week would cause slippery wet leaves and pine needles but the roads were in great shape. I love the feel of my heavy leather jacket from a protection stand point but carrying that weight for 6 hours ain’t great for my back.

Last year New England had a lot of salty roads with little snow. The year before was good for winter riding the whole season.

Just got my bike registration ($20/yr). I have low insurance cost as I’m pretty much self insured so no real reason to take bike off the road for winter. What keeps me from riding is so much snow I can’t get the bike out of the basement and up to the driveway.

The beauty of having a 25 year old bike with close to 100K on it is winter riding. We’ve had a couple warm periods this fall but haven’t seen a true indigenous persons summer yet.

Been riding my bike to work on the Sundays that I'm working the last few weeks.
Been in the low 40's at 5 am when I leave and low 70's on the way home. Been wearing my Roadcrafter one piece with t shirt and jeans and a little heated grips in the am..Perfect for both temps. Really is a perfect riding suit!!!
Bike is running Great like always.

Crystal clarity, your leaf colors look muted like New Englands this year. Maybe it gets better further into the season
It does, but I don't think it's ever as colorful down here as it is up there because of overall temps, weather patterns and daylight hours.

Temp at house is 41F. Temps to the west (higher elevation) are less than 40. Should be low 50s by 2 pm. I don’t need anymore encouragement than that. Will try to get some pics today but most of the leaves have gone by.

Library in Conway, MA from 2 days ago. Built in 1901 by one of the Philanthropist of the day. I’ve seen old post cards of horse and buggies in front when it was still a dirt road main st.

Well... I didn't get any pics today... 160 miles, didn't stop until the fuel stop 3 miles from home... I did kill a couple hundred bugs along the way. Kind of a public service...

The low yesterday was in the mid 40s, but it was up in the low 50s by mid morning. Unfortunately, the wife left, and the dog needed to play woobie... and he went nuts and insisted on a car ride. OK, we played, and he got a nice, long car ride. I got everything ready to go and realized my headset wasn't charged... ughhh... While I was waiting I set up a new route that should be good to ride soon. About 340 curvy miles, and a stop at the country store that has been run by the same family longer than any store in the country. The current family bought it in 1850. I've got to go there soon!

OK, charged up and on the road by noon. The temps stayed in the high 50s to mid 60s. Perfect weather, and above my minimum summer glove temp. Nice ride on one of my old, original local routes. Like I said, no pics, but I just kept riding, and then I was home again. With the temps cooling down, I think I need to get the hippo hands on the bike this weekend...

Hopefully we'll get to that old store in Gravel Switch, KY soon. I promise I'll at least get a few pics there..

Rain last night and early this morning. Temps are warm (52f) as result at 10 am. Hoping to get out riding at about 11. Wet leaves will be an issue for a while.

Did 100 miles yesterday down into the Conn. hollows. Sun was bright but the temps were just under 50F.

Did 225 miles two days ago out to western Mass. Thought that might be my last time out there before I get my carpal tunnel resolved, but it looks like today is going to be another trip west.
Coming home from this ride my batteries in my heated gear controller went south so the gear goes into a limp mode where the heat supplied is minimal (lowest setting). I carry spare batteries and a tiny screwdriver in case but I just kept moving instead of stopping and fixing the issue.

In over 200 miles I only saw two other bikes and one was a scooter. Am I suppose to wave to them?

Shocked to find 50 degrees outside this morning, shocked in a good way. Heavy rain again last night so waiting for 1/2 hour for roads to dry up some more. Sadly the temps will be down to low 40s by 4 pm.

The Patriots played Thursday night so the roads won’t be as empty this Sunday as they usually are during NFL season.

Enough of posting, I’ve got things to do and roads to ride. Get out there if you can.

Update:

Looking out front of my home Sunday it was sunny and calm. 20 minutes later there was rain falling. Re-checked radar and it ended up only affecting the first few miles. Got in 3 hours and about 75 miles

Did same ride today with temps in the low 40s. Have been using my balaclava under the helmet which makes a big improvement. Weak point today was my feet being cold, tolerable but cold.
Other than that a great ride.

Second update:

Did same ride again yesterday. Ditched my Sidi riding boots for some insulated Italian hiking boots. Feet were fine with 40 degree temps.

Everything was fine/warm, a nice comfortable ride for Nov in New England.

My quick simple test for will I be comfortable is can I see my breath. Could see my breath this morning but its still early. If it gets back to 40 another ride is possible today. 75 mile rides feel short but at least takes away the no riding anxiety. Weekend is suppose to be dry and high 40s.

At least the road was curvy. I rode an out and back from Minturn, Colorado to Hornsilver Campground, where the pic was taken. The route goes over Battle Mountain Summit in Eagle County Colorado.
