Yamaha Sport Scoops

Yes, I think it is close to yours! Here is a ground up-shot of her bike. The only problem with lowering like this is the rear shock is rendered almost useless. Her bike is a much harsher ride than mine. I'm thinking of a shorter shock for her and then raise the back back up a bit. I already raised the back another 1/2" and lowered the front 1/2" but she's yet to ride it like this.

Hey Eric, how did your wife end up with a Top Saddlery seat while you're stuck riding stock?

Looking sweet. I wouldn't have thought to make the scoops flat black, but I really like them that way. I too, noticed the seat situation. I also noticed you swapped wheels. (Black '07 wheels on your black forked '09 and greenish gold '09 wheels on the '07 with the gold forks) The greenish gold wheels look surprisingly good with the gold forks. I wouldn't have though that. I don't know if the purple paint and turquoise decals help that or if they would look as good on the Cobalt Blue.

As far as I know, my bike is stock height, but my headlights are too high. The forks are in the stock position, but I guess the rear could have been lowered a bit, it just doesn't feel it was at all. I'll have to get under there and really look. I'll be adjusting my headlights this spring. I know I'm too heavy for the rear spring, but they are too high without me on the bike.

BTW, is there any difference in the '07 Cobalt Blue and the '09 Cobalt Blue?

Congrats on being the first to speak up! ;) I let her use them because I'm OK with the stock seat on daily commutes and short rides. On long rides, we swap the rider seat, she rides it out and I ride it back (sometimes). She's always telling me to take it back so I'm not really "stuck" lol!

We're close to ordering her a new set of her own. The Euro is at a nice low making the seats cheaper than ANY other FZ1 seat option now, especially if you hunt the TS bargain bin.

Troy, a congrats to you as well! You noticed the wheel swap! I've always wanted the wheels to be black and when she got this bike, I saw how well this swap would look. That and she's not aggressive so the Shinko touring tires fit her riding very well (plus they are better in the rain than the PP set!) and she had the PP on black and the PP tires fit my riding style thus the swap was born. I only kept the rear sprockets original to each bike to be sure the chains and sprockets remain consistent.

Check your dog bone and shock. If they are stock then you're not lowered. I was about the same with headlight aim and I wanted to drop the front to have better turn-in so I went 5mm down the fork tubes with the triples. The lights are almost right but could come down a bit.

When you ask of any difference, do you mean in the paint color? If so, there is none, same paint code. Of course, now she's not Cobalt blue! She's a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple Harley eater.

Eric they turned out very nice in black. Only problem is that most people wont even notice them, but maybe it's not a problem ;)

Here's what they looked like on my bike. They really stood out in red :D

Yes, they do blend well and hide the top of the engine... hard to notice. I think I like this better though because I like the "more-naked" vs "more fairing" appearance and this is what it gives me. I like the flow now from the front of the radiator and it circling around the frame to the rearsets. :D

They WILL bet a color sometime later. Some day, I will paint this ride to be a unique design and these will be a part of that design now.

In red with you bike, they looked a LOT better than in blue with a blue/black bike. Red just POPS with the black features! (So does yellow... hint hint.... ;) )

I am torn between the two i really like them red but the black keeps the naked look but covering the top of the engine and the fans nicely. Eather way like them better than the covers i have now.

Looks great Eric! I like them much, much, much better black! I think when they are painted the same as the bike they throw off the balance of the bike which to me is perfect off the show room floor!

Great minds think alike. ;) No offense to those that like them colored!!!

Are these scoops functional or are they just for looks? Whole bike looks awesome!!

Thanks! These are strictly for looks. They are just to mimic ram-air scoops but don't do a thing other than blink rapidly and look cool. ;) I need to get the pods back on and a new FE to round out the package.
