What did you do to your FZ today?

Its been awhile since i've really done anything to the FZ that is not general up keep. I just score a Magical Racing screen on Ebay for 100.00 bucks shipped. I've been drooling over other members screens but have not wanted to spend the cash on one but for 100.00 I'd be crazy not to. So If I like it I will be selling my Puig cheap if not I'll pass on the deal of the Magical.

I'm excited.:yes::shine::thewave::Rockon::th_smiley::rotfl2:

Wow, great find!!! :D
Oh and if you fit it, you may be able to use the stock screws that hold the stock screen on, as thats what i did and it fitted... that way the screws are black and blend in with the screen...

Cleaned & lubed chain. Did some clean-up.

Made appointment for 8K service/check tomorrow. Also have to get a new rear tire, again. Have Q2 on bike and the front is still fine, so will put another Q2 on the back. I may consider a different tire after 2K more miles and both need changing...

Put my new/used can on, took it for a ride and listen to it back fire on decel...
Guess it's time to do the AIS block. Is it okay to do this with out a PC?

I've heard talk about the exhaust making loud popping noises and the AIS making that stop, my FZ1N used to pop all the time when decellerating. Even with the AIS mod. After I have installed Ivan's FCE, and put in the flies that FZ1inNH modded for me, and installed Whittlebeasts 3rd smoothed map for my PCIII, I haven't heard it pop once...

Is the elimination of the popping noise all that the AIS mod is supposed to do?

As i understand the ais feeds air into the exhaust so unburned fuel that makes it into the exhaust can be burned off. The popping is the sound of the fuel igniting in the exhaust. Blocking off the ais shuts off the flow of fresh air so the fuel is alot harder to burn, fuel has to have air to burn. If you get your maps off and the bike is running rich then when you let off the throttle there is more fuel that makes it into the exhaust, why changing the map will help to. . . and yep, pretty much that's all he mod does, and saves a little weight. I also noticed that getting rid of all that crap from on top of the valve cover made the appearance better to me and looks like air would flow better through the radiator and engine, just my opinion.

If you block off the ais by installing ais block off plates you remove the whole ais system from the bike. On top of the valve cover there are two rectangle plates with hoses running from the ais pump, guess it's a pump, to the plates. Get to remove all of that. Unless you get bored like me and just want something to work on it probably would be better just to plug the hose up on the bottom of the airbox. The easiest way to remove these plates is to take the radiator off the bike.

FZ today

Got one last ride in today ! :party0011: Sunny and a warm 48 degrees is sooooo unusual for January here in the upper, mid-west. 100+ miles later, I lovingly washed and detailed her, and carefully wiped her down dry. Using Eagle-One NanoWax, (my favorite, detailer), I gave her some silky-smooooth polish/protection, and put on the BT and then the cover.
Later this winter (when it's snowing and about 10 degrees out), I'll clean, adjust, and lube the chain (I have a heated shop/garage) and, clean the headers with my well used scotchbrite pad and some rubbing compound.
And, ohh, ohh, yeah , , , I also have a few new decals/stickers (from ebay of course) to install . . . . :woot:

I love the popping sound on over-run It gets me excited every time I slow down... then I can't wait to go fast again :wilynily:, no way would I stop this from happening

Put these on both mine and my wife's FZ1s today. They work great!!
