What did you do to your FZ today?

Changed the oil in it for the first time since I've owned it :)

taking the lowers off proved to be kinda a pain, so they will stay off till it gets a good wash, at least.

Me too! :wilynily: (but no lowers to take off :))

I changed the oil to Mobil 1 4T and put on the Wal-mart filter (Super Tech ST7317). I didn't know it was that much longer than the stock, but I guess that's ok. I also lubed my chain with chain wax, and cranked up the rear pre-load to max (help support my 300+ fat a$$). I didn't get a manual with my bike, so I looked up the oil capacity and I guess I found the Gen I capacity of 4.015 quarts when my Gen II takes 3.2 quarts... (wasted almost a full quart of oil! ouch :doh2:) I also aired up my tires to 34 psi rear and 32 psi front. I added some Sea Foam to the tank to try to clean the FI a bit.

I only have about 5 miles on it since the changes, but it seemed to turn quicker and shift smoother. I still want to mess with the front suspension and adjust the headlights (they are a bit too high). I think the rear needs a bit more rebound dampening too.

I forgot to mention (and still don't have pictures... :box: bring on the whips...) but I purchased the SW-Motech Bags-Connection Blaze Sport Saddlebag System from Twisted Throttle. They have been great for the price. I didn't have the money for the hard cases and the quick detach mounts. Maybe someday, but these soft side will work great for now.

I didn't use loctite as suggested and lost a few screws and nuts :( Luckily, nothing else was lost, so I have purchased replacement screws and lock nuts with nylon inserts to replace them and all should be fine. I'll post up some pics here and maybe start a thread about them as a review and if others have them they could comment too.

I've ordered a new oval Corbin back rest to match my seats (I gave up trying to find a used one :() I'll put up some pics of that when it arrives.

Put back ? (a new oem fender)on a rear I like the oem fender so I dont get so dirty in the wet, also one inch risers and took off the rizoma bars and ends and put back stock bars ?? Did yamaha have it almost right from the start,

I ordered a top rack and coocase V36 from twisted throttle. Eagerly waiting its arrival. I did not get the luxury edition case. just the basic. I'll get pics once i have it installed.

The heat...mmm

I had the FZ6 '06, top speed 142 mph, I'm sure it can go faster, but not with me.

two week s ago I did the up grade to my new 2009 FZ1, great bike, easy handling, power, torque, speed, nice good looking bike as all of you will agree.

Just one thing "The Heat", I should say the F .. heat, that I don't get used to.

I feel it in my legs and and above. It is uncomfortable, up to the point that I'm regretting my change.

I'm now thinking about the lower fairing kit, but not sure if the will help.

Your comments will help.

Hi hugoth, some heat on the legs in winter is nice. They run even hotter on the legs with the AIS blocked off. I blocked my AIS off with the YEC R1 racing Plug Set that goes between the cam cover and head and blank plates on the cam cover, 5VY-A4890-70. You need to do the block off if you fit a slipon.

Yep! The speedohealer even works and i was worried about that one. Speedo is now spot on with the gps. The air temp was in the mid to low 90s this evening on the way to the rheumy's. Bike warmed up to 209 and held there for the 10 mile trip. It was a little cooler on the way home--just low 90s and the temp was around 180 or so.

Some of that stuff only works when you're moving. When I took the pics, I hadn't cranked the bike at all. Here's another view:

I've got to play with it a little more. One thing i don't like is that it resets the trip when you're selecting stuff but if the fuel gauge is that accurate I guess I don't need the trip as much as before. I used about .7 gals going to the doctor's office and hitting a few twisty roads on the way home to see if I like the rear shock settings.

I need to soften it a bit.

I had a busy day.

1) Wedged foam around R6 lithium battery

2) Wedged foam around FZ1 lithium battery

3) Retorqued all bolts on R6 in prep for track day on Monday

4) Aired R6 tires R28, F30

5) "Tuned up" the trailer - Aired tires (were at 15, aired to 50 - oops), removed wheels, regreased hubs, installed trailer jack on tongue. Retorqued all bolts.

6) Staged gear for track day

7) Bought a new air chuck for the compressor, mini-grease gun, new small torque wrench, fresh ear plugs, brake fluid, chain cleaner, bottled water, baby Cokes, and G2.
