Romania 2013 DenArnold

We got back yesterday from my Romanian trip. Have collected loads of pictures and video's so I know what to do when the weather is bad to select and edit...

In total we've been riding 2400km in a large loop from Bucarest - Lupeni-Cluj Napoca - Sigheti Marmatiej - Piatra Neamt - Brasov - Bucarest.

We've been "cruising" on both the Transalpina 67C and the Transfaragasan 7C.

Other marvelous roads we've been riding on are

E81 between Sebes and Cluj Napoca- perfect asphalt and long fast sweepers
E576 between Cluj Napoca and Dej
18 and 17C between Sighetu Marmatiej and Bistreta: nice technical sections in the forest
Beautiful nature scenery (National park) and monestaries above Piatra Neamt (like a race track loop of 140km with 90km perfect asphalt)
Even did some offroad sections in this national park and near Brasov.
After we took the north of the Transfaragasan we road back to Bucarest via Sibiu and Pitesti. Last stretch between Pitesti and Bucarest we had to take the highway A1 due to time constraints, where we let the bikes takes us as fast as possible back to the capital city...at one point we were cruising at 220kmh when noticed some kinda security guard patrols alongside so we cut speed : oops:

Some pictures attached to give some idea...more to follow

Thank you for sharing those. Beautiful mountain views. I never knew Romania was so scenic. It looks like a wonderful trip. I bet there's another whole trip on an adventure touring bike (KTM/Super Tenere) just waiting. :stirpot:

First uncut video from riding down the 7C Transfaragasan North. First needed to shuffle through an icy patch...enjoy the vid. More to come :sport12:

Second uncut video of the descent of the Transfaragasan North, filming-following two fellow riders, of which the first rider is a motorjournalist of a local magazine Motorrijder...which I could keep up with :woot:

Romania 2013 Afdaling Transfaragasan part2 - YouTube

Enjoyed the first video... Can I say "Balls of steel!" here? Snow, ice, water, chunks, single lanes, rocks, dirt, gravel.... wow! Great job!

This second video says it was removed because it is too long... :(

Thanks for sharing all of this! I am very jealous!!

another video filmed during a rainy day (day5) near the national parks at Piatra Neamt. Filmed a section sideways to film the scenery...

Thanks again for all the pictures and especially the videos. It's the closest I'll ever get to Romania. Most of the videos I've seen looked like this trip would have been better suited for a Super Tenere or KTM adventure touring bike. It's good to know the FZ1 has yet another trick up it's sleeve. It really can do just about anything.
