Richie's New Ride Is Home!!!!

Wow Billy that bike looks mint! And I do like it w/o the "flames" in the tail section. Now to get the rust off that chain and get it all lubed up :D

...
So here's my stable right now. Hmmm???, theres still room for maybe another?????

Yea, I think you could manage to fit another one in there. Something like this maybe ;)

Yamaha : FZ : eBay Motors (item 250608773590 end time Apr-09-10 18:13:22 PDT)

I had this same exact model back in 94-96 and it was a great bike. Plenty fast and relatively comfortable for a big/tall guy

I'm gonna work on that chain Wednesday when I get back from Ivan's. I don't think there is much I can do with it. A new one is so inexpensive I'll probably just buy a new one. I am going to order the SV650 rear shock tomorrow and get rid of the stock shock. There are absolutely no adjustments and the spring is really soft, even for Richie at 150lbs. It's 50 bucks for a 06' rear shock with 7 preload adjustments and a 430lb. spring. You can't go wrong. The parts for this bike are so cheap, as you said, I could probably build one from the ground up for less than I paid! Amazing.

RICHIE!!! Holly cow my friend. Tha is one sweet bike. It sounds great. IMO putting duals on the 250 rocked. With a 2 into one it would sound like a 200x three wheeler. That bike is hot. Great move with the Decals. I kind of like the lower ones that you left on.

Good Find Billy, you are a great dad. Well at tlest the second or thried greatest that I know. But only to me and my pop.lol

I bet your really looking forword to your weekend rides now. I would be.

You guys take care.

Richie. When you get behind the wheel of a car learn how to respect motorcycle riders you share the road with. And when your on your bike, you need to also drive in your mind ever car around you because I know they arent thinking about you on that bike. I wish you nothing but the very best of luck with al of your driving. Enjoy the heck of of that bike. It is hot.:stunta]:

Well Billy, I believe you just became the official "Dad of 2010." Congrats. The Ninja 250 is one of the great all time bikes. That's one happy kid my man.

Thanks Norm! How the heck have you been? I haven't spoke to you in a while. Are you gonna pass by when I'm up at Eric's to work on the bike in a couple more weeks? I'd love to meet up with you in person. I'll let you know which weekend. As of right now I'm looking for April 24th and 25th.

Okay, Okay!!! X-ney on the upgrades guys!! Thats it, I'm tapped out. New chain and rear shock and thats it. Gas and go. Now if he wants a Yoshi full exhaust, he had better get a summer job!!

I have been taking on weekend jobs to pay for my mods. If you want shiny bits you have to put in the effort. Made a grand last weekend to pay for the latest goodies. Like the quote goes, "something given has no value". You always appreciate what you have to put in the sweat for, more.

I need to come upto your neck of the woods.....I just probably saved my inlaws 1500-2000 for the work I just did -- and upgrades to boot, and all they had to pay was the cost of materials...... :shame:, for me anyways.....

and now looks like I have more work lined up.....sadly.....also very low costs to them....

Well I hope you're at least getting some "free" baby-sitting services from them so you and the wife can spend a night out w/o kids ;)

Guess I can't seem tk leave anything alone in it's natural state, things are always better upgraded.....and code compliant.....Thanks again Aaron.

You bet! That weekend is good for me. The one one after it is not as I'll actually be in Staten Island then. I definitely want to see you. I'll either come over to Eric or you two can ride down to me.

I sent away for the shock last night and the grommet for the fairing. The SV650 rear shock will fit in perfectly with no mods.View attachment 2515

I'm going to give the chain a good inspection with the kerosene tomorrow to see how bad it is. If I have to replace it, I will. The BIG video to come tomorrow!!

Will do Eric! Just let me know a week before what the 7 day forecast looks like so that we can decide what to do. I'll let Tony know to see if he is able to ride up those days. If not, I'll be going solo. I can't wait!

I'll keep a close watch on the forecast and keep you up to date. It is normally quite mild up here at the end of April.

Any more thoughts on a tool to get that race off the stem? I will have to buy the proper tool eventually with two bikes to do in the future. :D

Well, I'm gonna do some research as to the I.D. of the stem and find something in line of the pipe with that "X" cut in the end with the flared ends. That seems like the logical way to go. Hammer down for the bottom race and hammer up for the top race.

I'll probably have my "bloodhound" friend Tony do a search for the tool. Believe me, it can't be that much money. I'll buy it and then we can use it as a "forum tool". When another member needs it, they only have to pay the shipping and we will send it to them. When the next person that needs it, that person will pay for the shipping and so on. That would be a pretty cool idea don't ya think?!

Phase Three Has Begun!

I picked Richie up from his Lacrosse game this afternoon and rode home to remove the lower fairing to bring it upstairs. Richie will be removing the remainder of the decals to give the bike a "clean" look. I can imagine that I'll be looking for some "race decals" in the coming days if he's anything like me. I like a replica race bike myself. We'll have to wait and see but for now its bare naked fairings. Tomorrow morning I'll be running over to DMV to secure the plate and then immediately run over to Ivan's and pick up my Fork Parts from Gina. I'll then head home and polish up the rest of his exhaust and clean the front of the engine and get the bike's chain ready for when he gets home from lacrosse practice. I also have to get the GoPro ready for his "maiden voyage" which you'll be seeing tomorrow evening. Here are some pics from today's progress......
