Progression of Lunacy....a pictorial documentary and random discussion

I'd entertain the frame if it was 1/3 the price WITH shipping.

I've just about got it all masked off.....have to take a break and clean up a bit before I continue.

As I was putzing around in the vehicle today, I saw bike after bike after bike.....needless to say, I WANT TO RIDE!!!!

I can't take pictures till in the morning but I got the plastics primed and shot with two coats of satin black. The bike is about 90% masked with just the front of the engine and a few misc spots to ensure no accidental color change. I should be ready to shoot the first coat of primer tomorrow morning. although I have to cleanup my area and make up my spray booth.

Then the only thing that will remain is the swingarm, some misc bling, plugs, carbs (jet/sync), paint the forks, and assembly.

The not so important to-do list:
Refinishing the Carbon Fiber
Tracking down another set of rims (frt/back)
Rotors

Wish list:
AK-20's

Possibility:
USD Fork Conversion

I take it you scuffed up the frame real good? You don't want to have to do this twice! I'm waiting patiently to see the progress. It should look awesome. They should have blackened the frame on the 01's from the factory to save us all the trouble.

frame is good and scuffed, but I may make one final pass. My real concern is a few hard to reach place to get them covered with paint. Now that the light is out and I have the garage open, I'll get some better pictures that can actually be seen.

Well, the wonderful NM winds picked up and I'm sidelined with allergies. So all I did wad snap a photo with my phone and go back upstairs to lay back down.

I'm certainly glad that I bought that 10,000 shares of 3M the other day. Adam is single handedly making me rich!!!! Nice masking job pal. Thats looking good. Remember, just many light coats are better than a couple of heavy ones. Good luck and keep the progress pics coming. Maybe you should set up one of those "video feeds" so we can watch in real time. Now that would be cool!

well, another day lost to allergies. I still have the front to finish and then make my spray booth.

I did however, go over all the finer areas and welds just to make sure of good adhesion.

hopefully I'll be able to resume tomorrow.....b/c this weather is killing me having to be in a vehicle.....

As for the video feed, I'll see what I can do to accomodate :)

first coat of primer -- all and all, pretty happy with the coverage. There were some areas that I was afraid was going to be hard to hit, but was able to feather it enough from many angles to get it all covered.

going to watch a movie and then hit the frame with another coat.

and Billy, I tired to find a way to film, but unfortunately, I was only able to capture the finished product......

yep, will have to do the swing arm, but cannot do so until I get the forks/centerstand back so I have some way to keep the back end up.

will also be doing the fork legs as well. I'll put some strips of electrical tape on the front to protect from chipping.

Then there will be some misc. bling for the engine......don't know if it'll be painted or ????
