PapaGeno21's Build Thread...

There is less oxygen in the atmosphere the higher you ascend, hence producing less power. Therefore to produce a comparable power output, you need to use more fuel. With the mods you want to do, you are fine at these low levels but with the bike at over 1 mile high, you'd want a PC to add more fuel throughout the map, otherwise, the bike would run too lean and likely damage the engine. :D

Thats a negative. Im going to get a GYTR Slip on, and gut the cat.

If I decide after doing all the other mods that I want more, which I most likely wont, ill get Dale Walkers header.

Paid for the GYTR Slip on last night. Was used for 500 miles on someones bike, 309 to my door. He said its literally brand new condition so well see! Going to listen to it stock and see what I think. Lot of people have shortened it and said it sounded meaner, and I KNOW it looks better being short..

Waiting on the CA tail light, and FDB Levers.

Heading to home depot right now to get the washers to do the washer mod to tighten up the rear sets and stop the movement they have from the factory.

Well the GYT-R slip-on is plenty loud in the stock length and while I agree that it does look nicer as a "shorty" you may want to reconsider cutting it. That's a one time deal and it it comes out too loud then you can't fix it.

Thats why im not sure. When its on the bike, most likely I will like the way it looks and I dont want it overly loud and some people complain the GYTR is loud enough as it is, so well see.

Most likely I wont change it lol. Its nice that the option is there though!

I installed my clear alternatives tail light, and the tail delete bracket. Pics tomorrow when its fully completed...

I got everything all squared away now im just going to solder up some wires. Gotta run the resistors in line so they flash properly, but thats ok its so ill looking! Basically just cut the stock plugs off the turn signals and the plate light and soldering them to the new stuff so its still plug and play, nice and clean, and a solid install.

The GYTR should be here Thursday. So Ill gut the cat, install the slip on, block off the AIS and remove the EXUP cables. :)

Not gonna touch the intake most likely until I get the PC3, but once I do all hell is gonna break loose!

Should I try it first with the cat there? How loud is loud as heck?

Or are you just old and grumpy and dont like noise? :justkidding:

Anyone else with GYTR Experiance?

:D I'd try it without gutting the CAT but just remember, there isn't a cheap way of going back if you gut the cat and don't like it.

I actually don't mind a louder bike sometimes, but it really wears you out on longer runs especially without ear plugs. On a side note? NH has stricter noise laws and I had to put the P4 tip on the 2Bros to become legal.

Hey Geno. I recommend using the GYT-R in stock form without gutting the cat. No need to do that until you get the PCIII.

I sent it out today, and it is MINT. As everyone on here who has seen my bike in person would say, it's kept the way it should be, and still only has 1,500 miles on a 2007.

The GYT-R is VERY loud, and looks shiny and new. I would hate to hear you cut it down.

I will recommend the AIS blockoff or blockoff mod ASAP, or you'll hear the popping very loudly on decell with the slip-on.

Good luck with it, and make sure you send the photos when it's installed!

Brian

Sounds like a plan. Im gonna start the AIS removal today most likely, but wont be running the bike with the GYTR without doing that.

And ill leave the cat for now and put some miles on it and see what I think.

Brian, I didnt know you were on this forum lol. I freaking LOVE your bike, the retro kit is one of my fav FZ1's out there, its the reason I got a gen 2. But I kinda fell in love with my black and gold lol.

I dont think there are enough screws holding the airbox halfs togeather.

I dropped the radiator down a bit to get the AIS system out, and after realizing what a MAJOR PITA it was going to be, I just said screw it. Put the radiator back in place, and lifted the tank, removed the airbox and then just capped off the plug, and used a 1/2" copper plug end for the actual tube. So that seems to be what a lot of people do.

My question, is do I have to disconnect the wire for the AIS pump, or just leave the thing alone and just plugged at the airbox end?

Finished the tail, got all the wires soldered in place and everything with the resistors, since they get hot I got some of that plastic ribbed tubing and put them in there as its good for 200 degrees. I made it so the setup uses the stock signal ends, so I can just disconnect them. Did the same thing for the light on the licence plate.

More pics tomorrow when the GYTR is on there, and it will be daytime so it will look better. Ill get some pics of everything tomorrow, and the tail light is SMOKE but the flash is making it look clear.

I think the new pipe is really going to make it look better, this ones too bulky looking now that the rear fender is removed.

Nope, those are my sick talents with paint shop pro lol

Just ordered FZ6 stock rubber pads for the footpegs, as they are flat and firm and I hate these ribbed squishy ones on this bike. Can never get a nice firm feel on the pedal.

Also ordered this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260623819707

Not using the gas cap thing as its not for my bike, but I wanted an ALL black tank protector, hate carbon fiber looking stuff.

Would have loved for the GYTR can to be all black, but its carbon and I can deal with that but I wanted this part to be just black. I bascially hate carbon fiber, but the only other pipes I could find that were all black was Dale Walkers and IMO that pipe doesent look good on this bike as the can is too small.

IM done ordering things now, nothing else until spring. This is just enough to get me happy with it and ride it. Just been wearing non zippered clothes so I dont scratch my new tank, but now I can start wearing my hoodies again!

Looking great!

But..... the angle of that plate is an issue. The rear travel is likely to put the tire into the bottom of the plate and bend it further. Please re-think the location and angle of the plate, ok?

I may have put the plate mount on backwards to be honest lol. Gonna mess with that as well today as I also thought it would get wacked by the tire...

Do I have to disconnect the wire for the AIS pump, or just leave the thing alone and just plugged at the airbox end?
