PapaGeno21's Build Thread...

Yeah I have been looking around. Unfortunatley I cant get anything big soon as this put a dent in the pocket, but after the small stuff im going to save like 1500 and just do full exhaust and electronics at once and call it a day.

I was really liking Dales header, and then his High mount but the GTYR sounds awesome, as well.

Anyone know what exhaust this is, really really like the look of it.

First of all congratulations on the new bike  And Eric correctly identified that can! It's indeed a Graves. Funny thing as involved as they are with Yamaha's I have never seen one of their cans on an FZ1. Might have something to do with the price

The only Graves can I can find is freaking huge? Can you point me in the right direction?

:)

This thing handles freaking amazing, turn in is much quicker and the powerband to me is smoother. REALLY love this thing! Named it Vanessa lol

I think the one in that picture is the Graves full system, not the slip-on. You may change your mind about it once you see the price!

Is Dale Walkers stuff as good for the gen 2 as it is for the gen 1? I know the Yoshi full system is cheap, but I dont want it just cause everyone has it and the header usually gets all discolored anyways.

I really think Dales Header and then his Slip on would be sick lookin.

I don't care for Dale's Gen II slip-on, but his header is a work of art. Oh and it will probably discolor as well. It's just a function of the ss, but it can be polished back to like new if stay on top of it. The nice thing about Dale's header is that it exits in the same place as the stock one. This means that any slip-on that will bolt on to the stock header will also work with Dale's so your options for a slip-on are practically unlimited.

Frame Sliders shipped out.

Ive decided on doing the clear alternatives rear sequential smoked tail light:

And then using this plate mount:

06 07 08 09 FZ 1 FZ1 STEALTH FENDER ELIMINATOR NEW LED: eBay Motors (item 140436722991 end time Sep-04-10 10:12:36 PDT)

Just ordered those two things. I just cant stand looking at this fender.

I think this weekend I will mod the flies and do the airbox mod while im in there, along with descreening the air filter. I dont exactly know what that last one means yet but ill figure it out lol.

Edit: Going to order some Watsens sometime in the next month or so, not in a rush as they take a long time to come here anyways. My bike has a metallic finish, so should I order the Black Metallic ones or just gloss black?

Once you remove the air filter it will make sense. Has a metal screen on it. Just break off the little plastic nubs holding it on. Removing the metal screen should improve airflow a bit.

As for the signals go for the metallic ones. Should be a better match for your bike. And yes they will take a while, but will be totally worth it. Fit and finish are top rate

Installed my sliders today from T-Rex. Kinda ugly, but I know they will save the whole side of the bike so I dont care. 13.00 well spent IMO.

The plate mount with LED also came in, so thats cool. The CA Tail light has been shipped and so hasnt the levers.

Now here is a question.. Will the bike be safe to run if I do these mods?

GYTR Exhaust Slip On
Mod Flies
Descreen Air Filter
Gut the Cat
Lars Airbox Mod
AIS Blockoff

I think you will be ok, but you really need the PC III to maximize all the mods you have done....oh and a radiator guard....:p

Im gonna be doing a PCIII, FCE, and ignition box in the spring along with Dales Header, so im not worried about maximizing it. Im just wondering if it will be safe to do the slip on AND that stuff for the rest of this season.

If you can swing the PC III, I would do it. It is the most important part of the mods that you have done. The FCE and Ig box can be done anytime, but not having the PCIII with the mods you have is like putting pods on carbs and not jetting....:confused0024:

So what if I just dont do anything and just throw on the slip on...

Then do the rest of that stuff when I get the PCIII....

Ill block the AIS though, thats for sure.

And for the build thread:

Just changed my oil and filter, its got 380 on the clock so what im gonna do is change the oil and filter again at 700-750 then use that till the end of the season. I figure ill hit maybe 1600 ish miles by the end of the season, then change them again come the start of next year. Mid next year ill swap to synthetic.

I had a scorpion slip-on on my 06 without a PCIII for awhile and it ran a little lean but it shouldn't hurt anything. A cheap ($35.00) easy way to gain some perfomance is to swap out your front 17t for 16t, you will be amazed at the difference!

I would gut the cat while you have it apart and yes to the AIS block off

So if I gut the cat, and install a slip on but dont do anything else it should be ok?

And yeah, im changing to 16/46 over the winter with a nice 520 setup and gold chain.

STEALTH/RK 520GXW Chain & Sprocket Conversion Kit - YAMAHA - Sprocket Center

The gold sprocket and chain will compliment my bike nicely!

I would think it would be ok, just know that until it is tuned with the PCIII it may not run to your liking, but you wont blow it up or anything....

Nice stangs BTW..
