Hi All.

Nice site!

Just moved to Northern California (from overseas) and picked up a new bike - an 08 FZ1.

Apart from a puncture on the second day of ownership I'm loving it. Its been modded a bit and goes well - it has R1 forks, steering dampener, Leo Vince pipe, power commander and a few other farkles.

I'm enjoying how planted the bike feels, the torque, the comfort factor and the general way it goes and feels. its a little bit on the heavy side but I guess I'll get used to it.

Looking forward to meeting a few other FZ1 owners and going for a few rides!

It has an aftermarket screen which I really don't like so I'll be putting up a post soon in some other area of the forum.

Thanks guys!

:welcome: Think you'll find a decent bunch of guys and gals here and plenty of informative reading. The forums a little slow now with the colder weather and holiday season upon us. Just about any FZ1 related topic has been covered 10x already so make use of the search feature and your questions will be answered :)

Thanks for the welcome.

Yeh I should have searched first before putting up my screen thread, my bad.

Please find a pic of my new bike below - its exactly the color scheme I was after.

I'd consider myself an all season rider (but haven't ridden in your californian winter yet) so hit me up if you wanna go for a cruise. Went through Winters to Napa the other week and that was a lot of fun!

You are just down the hill from me. Can you get away during the week? My work schedule is slow now and the upside of the drought we are in is this nice weather. Perhaps we can meet and I can show you some of the tasty roads we have within an hour of Sacramento.

Unfortunately I work standard office hrs. Always up for a weekend blast though. Even up our way the Auburn to Folsom road was pretty fun, but I'm definitely interested to find new roads!

I'm sure we can find a weekend to ride. We are in winter mode keep an eye out for the forest rats (deer) as they are really on the move in the hills these days. Actually they are a threat year round.
Send me a PM when you can get out and I'll see what I can do. Doug

If you ever make it to SoCal I can show you a cracking bunch of roads. There are pics of the routes in the photo album under my profile.

Thanks. I'm considering riding down to SoCal via the coast over Christmas holiday period. Do you think the conditions would be ok enough for a trip like that?

Temps down here in the winter are around 20c in the day. If you were to ride some of the roads in the maps it will be closer to 10c with snow above 5000'. I ditched all my winter gear after I moved here as it never really gets cold.

;)

A huge thumbs up and thanks to Doug - aka onesizefitsall, he showed me some awesome roads in the north of California today.

I had a blast and Doug is a champion. A real credit to the forum.

We also met up with another stranger on a motard - I swear he spent more time on the back wheel than on two!

Thanks boys, I just like to show off our local roads. Today was a perfect day riding where it should be snow-California drought.

Our Aussie mate (Tricky) has only had his FZ1 for a week and he was throwing it around like he was born on it. We had a blast riding Mosquito Road over to Wentworth Springs Rd. Nothing but curves for 80 miles.

The animal on the KTM 690 was a pleasure to watch. He would pass us at 80 mph on one wheel. We all had a lot of fun in the twisty bits.
