Im going on my first trip tomorrow, any advice?

Regarding footwear on a motorcycle, I have the following to offer.

1) First, your footwear should protect the ankle, at least. Tall snickers will work, they are comfortable and flexible enough but there are two potential issues:

2) the top of the shoe should be smooth if possible to be able to slide easily in and out from under the selector, so snickers with laces that go over the tip of your foot (most of them) may not be the most convenient. I had a pair of boots with side zippers that were great on the bike, but uncomfortable as hell while walking. They were poor quality, so I threw them away at the first opportunity, but they were great on the bike.

3) Make 100% sure that the laces are snuck back inside the shoe and not flopping around. I almost fell several times early on because the shoe lace got caught in something around the pegs and I could not put my foot down while coming to a stop. That is a pretty scary "what the f**k" moment, if you see what I mean.
