How To: Roth Velocity Stacks Installation

First of all they are beeeauuuutiful!

Stock: They are 65mm tall.


Roth: They are 30mm and 70mm tall. http://riperformance.myshopify.com/products/velocity-stacks

1. Remove the inner fairings, tank cover, and lift the tank
   
   
2. Remove the airbox cover lid. Don't forget the center screw.
   
   
3. Remove the stock stacks and take out the screws from them.
   
   
   
   
4. First loosen the Roth stacks from their bases enough so that the base sits flush and tight in the airbox.
   
   
5. Screw in down the screws but don't tighten them completely.
   
   
6. Screw in the stacks so that they seal the inlet flush. This can be felt by your finger.
   
   
7. Now tighten the base plates completely.
   
   
8. Now tighten the stacks completely. You may need to 2-3 tries between this and previous step to get an airtight seal between the base plate and airbox bottom and the stacks and the inlet sides.

They are very nice indeed, but once you install them no one gets to see them again

Locktite ?

Did you put blue locktite on the screws/bolts? I see blue on them in the pictures.

Loctite is not needed. I think they screw in pretty tight.

The blue you see there Lee? Those are the marks from the factory that show the bolt was tightened to spec. They mark each one so they know not to revisit it. :tup:

Ride report: A definite increase in the midrange, seems punchier and overall the bike is smoother. Got rid of the remaining vibes too.

Not likely unless I can justify paying $350. Pretty happy with Duke's LA smoothened map.

Dyno runs are about $75 for a baseline run with an O2 or 4 gas reading. It's nice to compare from mod to mod to know if you're on track with tuning.

I am liking the look of this mod! Just a quick question. I have so far decatted with a Mivv slip on and Pipercross filter. Modded the air box and have on order some flies. Will the bike to too lean now?

Ask FZ1inNH. He is running the full monty without a PC3. It should be fine mostly but cooler weather may cause a miss here and there. The stock ECU map is too rich anyway.

I thought that but when I took the headers off today to get them powder coated they were very light grey inside.

Those are awesome stacks but I'm impressed with how clean your bike is!!! LOL I pulled up my tank to replace the air filter and I think I have a full day of just cleaning ahead of me.!!!

I was happy with my Graves stacks untill I saw these. Words cant describe how good they look.

I have them, they are perty, but once in you only get to see them when you clean your air filter.
