FZ1inNH 2013 Cobalt Blue Build

It would look great if the rear tail section above the grab bars over the tail light were color matched blue to the CD cowl. Doesn't look bad as it sits now, but I think that would really set it off!

Ok. I'll shoot it with Plastidip first to see how it looks. That way, I can go back easily by peeling it off. If I like it, I can sand and spray! Thanks all!

Last night, I got most of the 2009 back together with OEM parts. Only things left is bleed the brakes for the OEM lines, swap tires and put the OEM fork springs and spacers back in.

Nice work so far. I don't envy the tire swaps. I just pay someone with a proper machine to change them. He's done in about a minute. It's worth it to me. Also no worries of scratched rims. :retard:

Keep us posted.

If it were a single set, I'd be inclined to have someone swap them, but I have to do all three bikes. I could just swap wheels and tires and make it really simple, however, that would put the oldest wheels and bearings (2007 set) on the newest bike and Michele really likes the bronzed 2009 wheels on her Purple Harley Eater. I AM going to try and refine my home-made tire machine and see if I can make it work. Pics if it works and Hall of Shame thread if it fails! Hahahaha!!!

The FP lever set from Motomummy arrived today. Corey is fast with shipping! Really like the Navy/Blue/Black combo with this bike. I'll get some pics with them on later.

I like those. Does the dark blue match the bike well? My cheap, Chinese gold levers are very faded and never matched anyway. I'm considering another set. I got my wife some for her Ninja 250R from Ride IT Moto, and they seem great in black. I don't know if they have the dark blue. You need gold selector levers and gold forks. :)

Thanks Troy! Gold...lol!

Yesterday was another long day of wrenching. The tire machine had some progress but needs some improvements. I did most everything on the floor with a shipping blanket. I swapped all three sets of tires, balanced and put them back on, On the 2009, I returned the forks to OEM by putting in new uncut spacers that arrived in yesterday's mail and my shelved OEM springs. I'll do my new forks over the winter. I'm tired of wrenching right now. I also installed the FP levers but need to get the bike cleaned up and in the sun to get some pictures.

I started working on the CD speedscreen. There's a couple places were it rubbed the other cowl so I've ground those areas down and need to apply the 3M tape and get it mounted. I think I'm also going to wait on the SS brake lines unless we're going to have a rainy weekend soon. The PIAA horns also need to be installed but those depend on removing the OEM brake lines because I need the mount point.

Almost complete but certainly got all the important bits installed. And I'm getting too old for this marathon modding stuff. Hello ibuprofen!

Updated photos of how she sits today. I sort of shined her up a bit after putting a few not-so-great coats of Plastidip on the Strike seat cowl. This is my test to see if I want the rear 100% blacked out. If I don't like it, I can peel it off and if I like it, still peel it off, scotchbrite it and paint it black. Also showing off the new levers... It's official today because I went to the city at lunch and transferred the plate from the '09 to the '13 and discarded the temp tag.

Those PR4 look delicious!

I've not had them too long but the wet riding is just as good as the dry riding. Thus far, I'm very impressed with the performance, feedback and grip in the corners. Really encourage people to get the 55R rear too. So easy to fall into the corners with the higher profile!

I run the Pirelli Diablo Corsa 55 on the rear and yep, cornering is sooooo much better with a 55 over a 50. I had to adjust the speedo healer a fair bit but that wasn't hard.

I love the black seat cowl, looks much nicer than the blue.

Now get out & ride.

Cheers
Jason

Great build. I really like the PR4's and the rear cowl looks great in the pics. I'll let you know how I like the PP3's. I'll have them put on in the next few weeks. I had the 190/50 for the stock and first set of PR3's, but I've done the 190/55 the last set and this set of PP3's. I really like the change. It should have been the stock tire.

PR4s FN rock. I had no chicken strips left on the rear(190/55) at 38 miles after I installed them. So happy with them. I installed them when the stock tires only had 1000 miles on them. The D221s weren't as bad as the D220s that came stock on my previous SV650 but still felt stiff and unforgiving when they let loose a bit. Almost like they never really broke in all the way up to that 1000 miles.
