Bad News For Yamaha Factory Racing

...unless Wunderkind Marquez gives him a go later in the season.

That's always a possibility, but he's been a somewhat inconsistent. He definitely has the speed, but doesn't have a lot of wet weather experience and I'm not sure he's familiar with all the tracks. Those two factors combined I fear will keep him from really challenging Pedrosa, but who knows...anything is possible.

He certainly has the best shot of anyone so far. Rossi just doesn't seem to have that extra speed that Lorenzo can just turn on at will, and Crutchlow just hasn't broken through the way he needs to.

Game, set, match ..... Pedrosa new champ or possibly Marquez as a dark horse. The rest of the season got a lot less interesting.

I'd say it got a lot more interesting without Lorenzo running off into the distance. Now we've got a potential 4-way battle for first and the Ducatis have been doing better these last few races as well

There have been only three winners so far (Lorenzo, Pedrosa, and Marquez) and Lorenzo was behind Pedrosa in points ... I can't see how taking Lorenzo out makes it more likely that another team is going to challenge the Repsol Honda team. The Ducati team is even below Rossi and Crutchlow, they may be getting better but aren't going to challenge Honda. The best match going forward is Pedrosa and Marquez but I don't think Marquez has the pace to keep up with Pedrosa. If Pedrosa stays healthy he wins.

unless Team Yamaha brings on Crutchlow.......

I don't see that happening since Lorenzo is not out for the season at this point. However, based on what I have seen so far if Crutchlow would have had Rossi's bike this season he would have done even better than what he has.

That's a fair assessment, actually. I think you're right

If Lorenzo is going to be out for a prolonged amount of time, even if not for the rest of the season, why would Yamaha not try Crutchlow out in his seat? Forgive my ignorance on the matter; I watch more for the action than the story. It would be Yamaha's best bet at staying in the hunt for a constructor's championship, and a great way to see how he'd do on the "big" bike. What is the politics behind this not happening?

I don't think any of us are privy to the politics of this. May have to do with the way the rider's contracts are written with both the teams and the sponsors...

Crutchlow is with a different Yamaha team and has points with that team. If they think Lorenzo will make it back, maybe they pick up somebody else to ride his bike.

yeah i know, but how cool would it be if he moved bikes and could keep his personal points. I am sure his current team would hate him for it....... But I think he could stir things up at the front of the pack.

Last year Josh Hayes filled in when Spies was out for a race

How cool would it be if Josh Hayes dropped out of Superbikes and went full time Moto GP!!!!
