Working on almost 20 inches of rain in the last three weeks..not much riding going on. I did finally get new tires. Can't hardly wait to scrub the stickers off!

See any drones?
May get to low 40s this week in Mass. Lot's of salt on roads as well as the new (for my area) Molasses / Beet juice snow melt treatments. Was behind a couple spray trucks yesterday in my car.
Please keep reporting………. as long as there are survivors! The Drone Wars! What a time we live in.Lol .Haven't seen any yet. My neighbor says he did? I'll keep you updated.
A friend here in Atlanta says she saw them two nights in a row last week. 30-40 feet off the ground right over her head and making a bunch of noise.Lol .Haven't seen any yet. My neighbor says he did? I'll keep you updated.

Posted that on Tues, Wed was cooler but warm enough to ride. For some reason I took a break, good thing I didn't ride, because I noticed a weird almost aerosol paint smell in my basement. After searching for a few minutes I discovered my 60 year old 275 gallon oil tank for my boiler was leaking after just filling it.Got out today for a 100 miles. Mid 50s and the roads were 95% clear of water/salt/sand. That didn’t stop me from trying a forrest dirt road that turned to mud and left the Gen 1 looking like a “dirt” bike. Tomorrow will take more determination with temps in the 40s. It did help my morale to get out if only for 3 hours.
Holy smokes that's alot of oil!Posted that on Tues, Wed was cooler but warm enough to ride. 30 years ago I had buried it behind a wall when I finished my basement with insulation and sheetrock. Scrambled with two car oil change buckets to capture what was leaking. Ended up having to empty them into a 25 gallon plastic barrel every hour for the next 36 hours (no sleep) till I could find a emergency tank replacement service.
I knew I was 30 years beyond borrowed time with that tank, but was holding off till this spring. In the end the cost was not more than it would have been had I done it in a non emergency situation.
Finally got a good nights sleep last night. Had to pull my bikes out of the basement and park them in the snow to make way for the new/old tanks to get by.
Now the King of Procrastination is 4 days behind on xmas shopping. It was -4 this morning, I'm just thankful to have heat and no major bills from and environmental nightmare.
Above ground 275 gallon tanks are the norm in most homes in New England that use oil to fire boilers. Fuel oil is about $3.0 a gallon. When they replace your tank they show up with bladders or another tank in a box truck and they pump your residual oil into. They then filter it and put it back in. What I like about oil is you can search for the lowest price and your not locked into a utility for Nat Gas or Electricity.Holy smokes that's alot of oil!
Had to deal with heating oil system over in Germany, pain in the butt.
Not much of that out here on the left coast, still raining![]()
Propane out here in sticks. $3.25 a gallon. We have a 500 gallon tank but only holds 400 to allow for heat expansion. Not as messy as oil, but still spendy.Above ground 275 gallon tanks are the norm in most homes in New England that use oil to fire boilers. Fuel oil is about $3.0 a gallon. I only had about a gallon on the floor. Had I not caught it.... the clean up cost would have been crippling........ and local and State EPA get involved. I've seen homes that have had to be torn down because of leaks, where oil gets into and under foundations. My home owners insurance policy only covers $10K of clean up cost. A lot of N.E. has converted to mini-splits, but they are a poor solution for for sub 30 degree ambient temps, so you end up with two systems. They sell dual wall polymer tanks now, but they're $1500 more than an old style steel tank.
Yikes. That’s a picture I’d like to see…did you opt for the dual wall polymer?Above ground 275 gallon tanks are the norm in most homes in New England that use oil to fire boilers. i went with the old skool steel tank, which will likely out survive me. I don't plan to be here too much longer. I need a house with multiple garages.Yikes. That’s a picture I’d like to see…did you opt for the dual wall polymer?
Yeah the weather was great yesterday in NJ too. Broke out my Christmas present. A New Shoei RF1400 with a Photochromic lens. Super quiet and the lens works great. Did about 100 miles also. The FZ1 is running great.Got out for a 100 mile ride yersterday (New Years Eve), New England roads were perfect after several days of heavy rain. Probably should have kept riding for a few more hours, but what I did get in was helpful to my mental health. 43f when I left my house and almost 50 when I got back. Take em when you can get em.

I’m about 100 miles from the ocean (salt) and bolt corrosion has never been an issue on my high milage silver motors.Still looks and rides well for a 19 year old bike. Every time I ride it, I am reminded that I don't need to be shopping for a new bike. You can't see in the photo but all the bolts on the engine (clutch/ignition cover) and engine mounts have some corrosion on them, and the handlebars and upper triple clamp have some pitting on them too. I'm thinking one of those fancy bolt kits and a new set of handlebars would fix that. I don't like the bend of the factory bars anyway, strains my wrists, I want something a bit flatter.
