Anyone else had an awesome ride today?

They're nice. A friend gave me an awesome pair bought 6 years ago. The leather is thin in the palms. Don't bunch up on the grip. I posted this thread a year ago almost to the day. The weather here in south Louisiana is getting to the 60's and 70's this week. Hope to have a good ride with four other buddies. Going to a town about 40 miles away see a plantation home. Been there before with mixed emotions. Realizing the people were taken from their home in Africa shipped half way around the world and expected to work from sun up to sundown. If anyone's interested I'll let you know how it goes with pics. I do have some pics from the first visit I'll post
Oppression, exploitation and inhumanity against fellow humans was and still is everywhere. I think about it often and how writers of history try to obscure reality.

My typical bike ride takes me past scores of roadside markers in Massachusetts related to Massasoit, the leader of the Wampanog Indians (allegedly poisoned by the Pilgrims to obtain his land) his son Metacomet (King Phillip) and King Phillip's War.

When the Wanpanog were ultimately defeated by early American settlers in the Bay Colony, those that survived were rounded up, placed on ships in New Bedford and Providence, and sold into slavery on Caribbean plantations. So the slaves were being moved in many directions across the Atlantic. When it comes to shear barbarity it’s hard to equal the genocide of the Spanish in Latin and South America with Catholic priests in tow.

Contemporary historians will write about Uganda, Gaza and Ukraine, I’m sure it will no doubt be an accurate accounting.

Ironically the head of the UMASS Chan School of Medicine (T.H. Chan) recently demanded that the now famous City of Worcester, MA change the name of the street that the school is located on. The city explained to Chan that “Plantation Street” is not named after slave plantations, but rather after another famous Plantation in Plymouth, MA. So was Dr. Chan a boob who didn’t know his history, or did he know more about history than he let on? The school is still located on Plantation St.

Weather in New England is finally trending warmer, expecting heavy rains to clean the roads. Day light savings on Mar 9. Sun is stronger as well.

Last year I rode sporadically though out the winter. Fall was good this year, but this winter has been a large cold zilch. Good for the ski hills I guess.

Had a few unseasonably warm weeks this Winter here in GA. Rode many days but no long rides because the roads are still covered with salt or whatever chemicals they put down for the snow and ice.

Glad some members are getting out there. 55 degrees today in New England , unfortunately my bike would sink into lawn trying to get it out of the basement and onto the driveway. At some point the lawn will have to suffer, just not today.

After the rains and cold weather that seemed to last forever, it was 60 and sunny yesterday, so I finally got back out on the road! Maybe not what would normally be an awesome ride, but it was a nice ride. I found a few roads that were closed due to the recent flood damage, but the open roads on my route were in good shape. Spring is finally coming, and it was great getting back out on the bike!

Yeah, We finally got a break in the weather and I got out to a good ride too. Not awesome, but put on about 100 miles and got rid of some of the cobwebs. This has not been a normal winter for me as I usually ride all year. It's been so cold that even I didn't want to ride??

Finally got out for a decent ride today. Weather finally getting nice. 53 degrees and took a ride out to the beach to the old army base. Bikes running good as always!

Sandy Hook? Glad members are getting out. Your bike still looks great.

The roads are nice around here heading to RI or NH beaches. Western Mass is still a salt/sandy mess. Temps have been good for the last four days. My lawn is even firm enough to get up to my driveway.

Just need to recover from some form of Flu like lung ailment that has been incapacitating me and now the wife. I’ve been ill for weeks. Coughing up crap from my lungs till i see stars. Can’t remember ever being this bad. Too weak to be riding.

Yes Sandy Hook. I rode the Coast From Keyport down to Point Pleasant.
Sorry to hear about the ailment. It's been going around here to. I'm going on vacation on Friday to Cuba and I have my fingers crossed to not catch something.
The bike is running really good. Keep thinking of selling it and getting something else ,but whenever I ride it it reminds me what a well rounded fun bike that it is!!

Starting to get the weather in New England to support longer rides. Been down to the RI beaches a few times to maximize the ambient temp while still using my heated gear.

Got out yesterday for a 7 hour ride to western MA. Roads were mostly clear till I hit a 10 mile stretch of sand/salt near the Mohawk Trail. The heated gear continues to make things comfy although there was a short stretch of cold when I forgot to re-plug in after a break.

Glad I got out as we're now looking at four days of rain. Bike’s running well.

Just got back and the weather on Sunday was beautiful!! Headed out to Allentown PA for a bike show. Did some farmland riding then headed out to the mountains. 400 mile days. Bike is running great!20250329_142252.webp20250329_100418.webp20250329_094655.webp20250329_094634.webp20250329_100640.webp20250329_100316.webp

Nice looking ELR.

My butt is starting to squirm at 250 miles. 400 is epic.
Yeah i liked it too! They had alot of Japanese bikes from the 70's,80's and 90's. I couldn't load all the pictures. Even had a 86 Nighthawk 700 like I had when I was a teen.I loved that bike!Brought back some good memories.

Had a good ride Sunday to visit my dad. Temps touched 78f.
About 180 miles total as I took the long way there and back. Finally tried out the hybrid seat with stock pan but Sargent foam and cover.
Couple spooky wind gusts were concerning but biggest scare was newly paved road with loose gravel.
No signs or indications of that roadwork at all. So I turned it around and took a different road home. Wasn't going to risk falling down on that fresh tar / gravel.

I was trying to remember if you had tried the Sargent seat before creating the hybrid. I can’t tell the difference between a stock Sargent and the hybrid.

Yup, 2 different Sargent seats before this hybrid seat and I used he foam from the one with busted pan on stock seat base.
Took forever but got the hybrid seat back from upholstery guy and gave it a go.

I've got a Sargent seat , love it. It came on the bike. My butt never hurts . I just took an awesome ride today I'm going post it here today. Sounds like you had an awesome ride. My temps today were around 75. I wish I could still ride 180 miles. My back is shot after getting it fused

Shocks are different but not far from your sighting…... ELR $8500. Tempting

Well... after a couple of days shoveling topsoil for my hot pepper beds and putting a vehicle gate in for my fenced yard.. i finally got out to ride!

I originally built the fence to give the dogs about 1/2 acre to run in, but I wasn't thinking I might need to get the truck back there some day...i had to keep the dog contained (only one now... we said goodbye to Bo 2 weeks ago) so I built the H-frame posts and gate without cutting the existing fence. That made it an interesting project.

I finally got a break and headed out for a short ride. Sunny / partly cloudy and low 80s. Great riding weather out on some of my favorite local curves. Ended with an Easter cookout at the MILs house.
