I didn't see this happening either guys but I am selling my 2008 Yamaha YZF-R1 as I have been chatting with my Dad and I am planning on taking some long road trips over the next few years with him and unfortunately the sportbike is not going to be very useful for this endeavor. Wish I could afford two bikes but that's not an option for me at this point. I am going to be looking at the 2014 FJR1300 for next year. So just gonna put the R1 out there and see. Not a have to give it away sale situation by any means.

The bike is immaculate and has less than 3000 miles on the clock. I am the second owner. I picked up the bike when it had 1500 miles on it and was bone stock last fall from the original owner.

This bike has very tastefully done and quality modifications done to it. (See list below) This is not a situation where "I have to sell the bike" so please do not call with ludicrous offers. Serious buyers only need to call. Between the modifications and the retail value of the bike, there is slightly over $12,000 of bike here and it is ready to be enjoyed. New tires were put on this spring and have less than 800 miles on them. Price is $9500 firm. This is still a steal of a deal for someone who knows these bikes and the mods that are on it.
Bike will also come with extra parts and Factory Paint in unopened cans that I purchased when I was planning on further modifying the bike.

Gregg's Customs - Mirror Covers, ProGrip Tank Pad, Yamaha R1 BLACK NTS Fender Eliminator, Integrated Tail Light, Custom LED Flasher Relay Unit, Rear Spools, Gregg's Customs - Bar Ends, Gregg's Customs - Bar End Mirror Adaptors, Gregg's Customs -- Fairing Plugs, Titanium Double Banjo Bolt, Tygon 2075 / 2375 Tubing for front Reservoir, Rizoma Brake Fluid Reservoir Bracket, Rizoma Front Brake Fluid Reservoir, Rizoma Oil Fill Cap, Motovation Frame Sliders, Motovation Clutch Sliders, PUIG Double Bubble Windscreen, Goodridge SS Front Brake Lines, CRG Blind Sight Bar End Mirrors, CRG RC2 Shorty Levers, SSR Yamaha CNC Quick Release Racing Gas Cap, Sato Racing Rearsets, MDI Carbon Fiber Heat Shield, MDI Carbon Fiber Rear Hugger/Chain Guard (Custom Cut), Marchesini Forged Aluminum Wheels (Gold), Driven Front and Rear 520 Sprockets - 16/46, DID ERV3 Gold 520 Chain, Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust (Titanium Cans / CF End Caps), GYTR- Gel Comfort Seat , Custom Akrapovic -- Yamaha Racing Decals for Exhaust Cans, Cox Radiator Guard

That's a very nice price for all the mods... It's like you're throwing them in for about $300 extra!!! Should go very quick. Sorry to hear you're selling it but you'll have an awesome time on the FJR. FWIW.... also see if you can test-ride a Connie.... Compare the two.... I had a BLAST on Norm's Connie in FL for a few vacations. ;)

GLWS!!!

I owned a 2008 FJR before. Loved the bike and now with the updates to the throttle, cruise control, heated grips, suspension upgrades and a few other tweaks, it is a really nice bike.

I am gonna ride the Connie though. The only thing I see with the Kawi is the seat height for this short legged little monkey. LOL

I'm kind of thinking about a sport-tourer as well. As much as I love the 919, I often imagine how much more comfortable I could be on tour with something like an FJR or an ST1300. Tupperware for the win!

I've been looking at ST1100s on Craigslist because they're pretty cheap :)

I had the FJR back in 2008 when I was still married. We took it down to Deals Gap for a week and it was a blast. one of the best handling two-up based machines I have ever ridden. Here are some pics from that trip. The center stand got a little scuffed on that trip! LOL

Hows about keep the R1 and put a comfort kit top yoke on it? I ran an R1 for about 6 years like this, and it was almost perfect for everything! Did a bit of touring on it with 300 mile days and luggage with no problems.
I got a feeling you'll regret selling such a gorgeous machine, but good luck with your next choice. :)

Ok so its got a custom fairing on it in this shot, but I did have the original plastics on it to begin with.

I wish I could ride SS bikes, but my neck won't allow it. Great looking bike. Good luck with the sale.

I've been wanting an FJR for a couple years now. I was considering the Connie 14 also, but I've seen a few reviews that didn't like the handling of the big Kawasaki. I have yet to ride one. I've ridden a 2007 (Gen II) FJR and loved it.

Here was a shoot out between the FJR, Connie and Honda ST.

Here is a comparison of the Gen II and Gen III (2013) FJRs

I didn't mean to hijack your sale thread. Sorry.

Be careful on the Connie, I took one out for a demo ride and almost dumped it twice coming to stops at lights. The ABS was all jacked up and the combo front brake system was out of sorts too. It would just lock up/ABS grab and go while trying to come to a smooth stop. I talked to the head technician when I got back and he was like "well that just happens on those bikes, you need to get it up to a good speed like 85-95 mph and then stop as hard as you can, it resets the system." my jaw dropped and I could not believe you would want to get going so fast with a faulty braking system.

GLWS, If I had the cash I would consider it. Too much going on right now though.
