Hello everyone, I sold my 2003 bumble bee FZ1 today... It was really hard to get rid of it, but I did the best for me. I had to put about 1000$ in it to pass the stupid safety check so I sold it instead of losing money.

I bought a 2003 R6 (I know, it's a full-race bike) and I hope I'll have the same kind of fun that I had with my FZ1 last summer.

I really appreciated the forum here because everybody was so nice. I will be continuing to log on frequently and I'll post further pic of my new R6 even if it's not a FZ1 :)

Hope to see you soon guys!

EDIT :

Here's the bike:

Yamaha YZF-R6 2003
D&D chrome slip-on
Smoked windshield & CF mirrors
Barely Legal fender eliminator (not installed)
Integrated taillight (not installed)
CF Framer Sliders (not installed)
Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa (thoses tyres really stick like glue!)

Pascal sorry to hear about that, but like you said sometimes you have to cut your loses. You know we appreciate all bikes around here (well almost all bikes ;)). Post some pics of your new ride and stick around...

Buddoggin : I had to put 2 new tires because government said they were finished (they had about 2000km remaining) and a fork rebuilt (one was leaking a LITTLE) and put back a stock licence plate holder... (OEM parts = $$)

I plan on using it all summer. I am young and my back is still ok =)

I have some Diablo Supercorsa now (for track&street use) but theses tire don't last long... I plan on going to the track sometimes soon!

The government is forcing you to rebuild your forks???

Well... The safety check didn't pass because of that (which is controled by the government in Quebec) We have to go to special garage registered by them in order to pass safety, they are really stubborn

When I hear stuff like that it makes me glad there's no such government control here and dread the day it might arrive. As of last year we no longer even have motorcycle inspections here in NJ. Just pay your registration fee and you're good to go (as long as you have your liability insurance as well).

Yeah.. It's about the same thing here in Quebec, but when you buy a bike from another province, you have to safety it in Quebec. That was my problem. I bought my R6 from Quebec and no safety is needed.

La Belle Province "Quebec" has become very non-friendly to us sport riders. I sold my Ninja 900 a few years back when they put it on their black list and wanted to charge $1500 just to plate it for a year(actually 4-5 real months). The list includes all kind of bikes that have full-fairings and as far back as 1985. We still pay $500 to plate a sport-touring class bike such as the FZ1 :( They even included a $250 tax for new bike purchases on top of the sales tax this year. It has hurt the industry pretty bad. Alot of sport bikes can be picked up for the cheap here.

Tabarnack! Glad I moved to Florida... Things always been mess up in the "Belle Province" I always felt like the Government abuse the poor people that can't really move anywhere because of the language barrier. Thrust me, if they were trying to pull that one of in Florida, everybody might move to Georgia :flip:

LOL

Registration here cost me $200.00 for my cage and bike (FZ6R)... for 2 years!:flash:

You said it! I picked my 2003 R6 for about 3000$ last week in Montreal, QC. I had to drive 2 hours (I am from Gatineau, QC) but it was really worth it.

200$ for 2 years?? In Quebec sport bikes are 1100$/year and semi-sport like FZ1 are about 500$... They jumped from 300$ to 1500$ about 5 years ago because they claimed motorcycle accidents were all related to sport bikes...

Since 2012, plates for a year are 1100$ but it's still really high... But THE THING is, our insurance is included in this price. So for my personnal insurance, it cost me 300$/year. (Ontario for a year = 90$ for plates but 1000$+ for personnal insurance)

I hope so!! With the tires I have, I'm sure to stay grounded!

I didn't have the chance to ride it since I bought in right in the middle of the winter... Damn I can't wait

You are complaining come move to Friendly Manitoba, 2001 FZ1 with my fantastic driving record is $ 400.00 (sorry not 2000.00) per month. And to add salt to the wound they bill this over 5 months (riding season) with the only other option being paying out in full. My snowmobile is $ 700.
I am thinking about moving to La Belle

I almost fell over when I first read this, but then realized you meant $2000 per year ;)

Haha that price is very high... My driving record is still virgin :) Plates here cost the same price for every one, no matter your records.

But your personnal insurance... That is another problem...haha

My insurance for R6 : 300$/year (1 side covered for others) or 500$/year (1 side covered for others + fire and steal protection). It's pretty good for my age (21)

2 sides would have been 2000$...
