PapaGeno21's Build Thread...

Please let us know what you think about them. I've been wanting to get a set especially if my son starts riding again.

I have had them on my bike now for around 600 klms and they are awesome tyres. Heaps of grip and very confidence inspiring.
I like to ride twisties fairly quickly and these tyres are grippy enough to do trackdays on.
They are very impressive tyres, just get a set. You won't be disappointed no matter what level your riding is at.

So I have been thinking hard about luggage and whatnot as I will be using this as a DD. I need to be able to take my lunch into work, and its not working out stuffing a tuna sammich in my Tour-master jacket pocket.. LOL

So I splurged a little, scored an Axio Black tail bag on eBay for 100 shipped BNIB. They are really nice, and have terrific reviews. That's really all I need to be able to carry a water bottle and some odds and ends. I HATE using a backpack, so I will suffer with it not looking as good as it could with the tail pack, but its not horrible either.

:)

BTW, as of today my mileage counter is 2320. Did a lot of local driving today with the woman, so didn't put a ton of miles but was on it all day.

AXIO - TAIL BAG

I like my Cortech set up 120 liters of storage, personally tested at high speed and no unsightly framing left over when they are not on the bike.

I was really thinking about those, but I wasn't sure how they'd look and work. I also don't like the framing left over from the hard bags. Sounds like I'll be saving some pennies. My wife has her own bike, so I rarely have a passenger anyway.

How much time/hassle is it to put them on and take them off? Any straps that might rub and screw up paint? Any concern with the right side bag just over the exhaust?

Thanks :hi jack:

PS, Papa, that AXIO tail bag looks sweet too. Might be a good alternative to a tank bag. I also like your oil cap and the bluetooth headset on your RF-1100. I need to get a bike to bike headset pack for my wife and me.

They have a soft chammy like material on the back side. I rode from PA to Deals Gap and back without any marking. Intially it takes a little time to get you strap lengths right but after that it only takes a minute. The duffle bage attaches to the side bags with quick clips and has built in bungees if you are using only the duffle bag. I had no issues with the exhaust and the bags.

Those bags are nice. I am going to get something like that over the summer for my long trips. But I really do need something to carry my sammich, water, etc... The Axio is perfect without looking too ugly.

Man you guys must be so sick of seeing this thread at the top, I almost feel bad sometimes posting in it. However I got bored a couple hours ago and did three things.

I removed the warning sticker off the gas tank, right above the filler. It was something I wanted to do, but never got around to it.

I installed my Soupy's Performance lowering link and dropped the rear about 3/4".

And I lowered the front forks 8MM.

It is a bit more effort to get on the center stand, however its still easy. And I am not 100% flat footed but at least now the majority of my foot is on there. It is hard to back the thing up with stock height, and with all the potholes and crap here I want the best footing possible. I can adjust my driving style accordingly for how the bike will now handle. And I don't need another kick stand, this one is still leaning over almost like factory. So that's a plus!

Here are some mandatory pics. You can see my new bling bling oil cap in the second pic. :)

no, its ok i was wondering what it was for. I guess its bettter there then on youre holster, I got the blackberry bold with the otter box case. so i would think it would be about the same size, I will google it. Thanks

I have my Evo in an Otterbox Defender. That is half the reason I needed such a massive mount, as the phone with the case is not exactly small. But I used the extra long finger grip things, and it works great. I can shake that thing all over the place, use it attached to a jump rope etc. and it will not let go of the phone.

I will use the phone as the GPS so, that is the main reason I did that. And music going to my helmet from it.

So today I took the bike and the woman out for a run. We ended up doing 110 miles. The only problem I had was since lowering it, I didn't pay attention to my licence plate. The thing took a beating. Apparently, I hit a large bump and it bent the plate backwards and up lol. So I made it flat and bent it upwards, hopefully that will be ok. However, the bike handles nicely. I have 2432 on the clock now!

When I got home, I had some mail. One of those things was my Axio Tail Bag. Thing is great! The colors are PERFECT. It has red stitching on the zipper, the color is gloss black, and then there is that reflective stripe on the back. All of which matches my bike. Tomorrow will be the test run with it, as I am taking it to work with my sammich and whatnot.

Overall was a fantastic day. Temps were around 59-61 so I really got to feel out my new gear and setup. The helmet (Shoei RF-1100) is FANTASTIC and vents extremely well. If I open all the vents, it feels like I don't have a helmet on at all. That's how much wind gets in there. Then again, I have a really short buzz cut so basically I can feel the wind on my dome. lol

That Axio tail bag looks great on your bike and I'm sure it will work just fine as long as you don't try to carry a bowling ball in in :th_smiley_rotfl2[1]

LOL! Yeah, it doesen't have a TON of room but for what I need, its absolutley perfect.

Will easily hold a few bottles of water, my wallet, gloves, balaclava, a shirt or something, my sammich, and sunglasses etc.

Great little pack. Once my girl gets her licence, it will basically just not come off the bike. For now though it will come off for our weekend rides.
