FZ1 tail tidy versus mudguard

Topic started in Pay-It-Forward Goodwill 'FREEBEES'

Switched out to tail tidy with rear brakelight intigrated blinkers so if you need the stock setup just pay the shipping and its yours.

You may regret getting rid of it,I am putting mine back on,if you ride a all in the rain/after rain on road works etc you get mud, road grime etc over your tail light, back seat, luggage etc.

I've been a while tinkering to create someting similar to what eg the GS1200 and the MS have as rear fender/mudguard. I too have a integrated LED taillight with indicators, but since the Belgian weather has been rather wet, I have to date kept the stock rear end...

I've tried if the BMW or GS rearwheel mudgard would possibly fit with some minor modications, but the issue with the GS type it's original designed to fit on a cardan rearend and the MS type is designed to fit on the side where the rearsprocket is And the arms are too short...

Some idea's:
1. create a mold in wood and use epoxy
2. ply one in Aluminium?

here's what my tail looks like after 125,000 miles with no mud guard.
the paint has been blasted away by miles of sand and salt.

Not a fan of that bike, but very much like that mudguard. Ona black bike like mine it would pretty much disappear, and I could take the plate off the tail and clean it right up.

To do:
remove original FE and indicators
remove original taillight
connect mudguard led wiring to taillight
install LED taillight
mount license plate bracket
mount LED indicators

In between working finishing off my attic, I managed to replace the original rear fender, installed new LED indicators and LED taillight. Unfortunately when removing my license plate the fragile metal ripped at the punctured holes so I was obliged to get a new license plate, being it in the new European format, ie 25% bigger in size...
The build in LED indicators in the LED taillight are not connected, as having the small LED indicators installed on the new plate holder, I thought it to be too much (maybe good now for Xmas period though ;-) )

Have not yet found the time (nor the weather) to go out and test it in a muddy environment.
Some pictures taken by my BB.

is this even legal in the states? putting the plate down there?
and then i live in the peoples repubklic of kleifournia.

anything good, fun, works right, improves the bike, is illegal here.

u know i looked all over the place and couldn't find anything about plates to low.. each state sais the plate must be visable and below the brake light only the headlight must be w/e inches above ground, "i think to keep pocket rockets off the steets" WI or the peoples repubklic of kleifournia have no laws about mudguards... I want in on a buy if someone can get them in the u.s.

Just took a quick spin with the bike. Fits perfect and nothing came loose, except for the smal LED light. It looked like this was glued but not strong enough glue. When I got back home from a 20km ride I noticed this was off...I'll be emailing BikeDesign for this flaw insisting to get me a new LED.

I'll also ask them if they would consider a group buy with reduction or free shipping. If they would agree, I suggest shipping to US and AUS to a single address, where the items can then be forwarded at expense of each?
