Official YZF Makeover Thread

I dont know Billy thats gona be hard for me to get over!! lol i forgive you buddy i love a good joke(even when its on me lol). the bike does look great hopefully you will be rideing soon.

Nice one Billy. :bs: Yeah, I didn't want to give it all away, but I worked 7pm to 7am so I was already in Fool Mode :cowboy: Great prank. I never believe anything on the internet on April 1st. I would be happy for you to turn a profit and get a Gen II, but I didn't believe for one second you would sell the YZF without even getting her on the road. Too much work and love in that now.

I hope the clutch gets worked out ASAP. I look forward to you taking a trip to IN and IL. There are some nice little roads in eastern IN. :hook2: You'll have to see if the YZF can keep up with the FZ1's. Gary pushed me pretty hard on our ride! :surrender:

You had me going for a second there when I first read it

Hopefully the slave rebuild kit cures the clutch situation. It's very easy to change those seals so between that and the new braided line you should be good to go. I guess you still need to rebuild the front forks right (or did I miss that)?

Yeah, but the forks are an easy thing to do since I have to change the clip-ons as well. I'd like to at least get the bike where I can ride it for a day or so. It sucks that this clutch thing came up or else I'd be riding already.

I agree...since you have the proper tools and you've done the FZ1 forks before these will be very similar and you should be able to breeze through it.

Yep! I don't see a problem with doing these. They look almost identical to the FZ1 forks. I'm thinking that I could easily remove them on a Friday after work and have them back on by Saturday afternoon no problem. My main concern is the Clutch. I really wish I had a cable actuated unit on this bike! Hey Tony, do you think I may have to bleed it from the Master Cylinder like I did with the FZ1? Remember that I couldn't get a good brake lever and you told me to crack it open at the Master through the Banjo Bolt. After that it was golden. Maybe the same thing here????

It's possible that you have air in the clutch master cylinder, but I doubt it. However, it doesn't hurt to try and bleed it. Just be careful with the paint and the brake fluid...

Thanks! I certainly hope that the Master doesn't need rebuilding after all is said and done. That will put me back another week waiting for a rebuild kit. I'm hoping it's just air, but man, I must have put a PINT of DOT4 through that system already using both methods, manual and with the Stockton Bleeder. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Thanks again!

Well I didn't want to say anything, but that is a possibility as well. Very possible for the seals in the mc to go just like that. However, I have a mc rebuild kit that I haven't gotten around to installing so if you need it it's yours (and you can just order me another one). This way you wont have much downtime at all.

Thanks so much T! I'll let you know how it goes.
