I've already seen decent ones go for less than $4k. Granted they were '06 models, but nothing wrong with them that Ivan's FCE can't fix![]()
She's ready! I just got the call from Ivan. The YZF is done and running like a clock! I'll be picking it up first thing Saturday morning. I can't wait to hear it run!
Yet another reason the bike loves you more than the po.
I couldn't imagine this bike ever ran right the way it was set up. Not to mention that Ivan informed me that the carbs were clamped to the intake with cable ties!!! Unbelieveable!!! Go figure! Luckily he has the exact kit made for the early R1's which were the same carbs except that the YZF carbs are 2MM smaller.
Oh! This is AWESOME news! Music to your ears.... "Running like a clock!" Glad to hear there were no big Gotcha's from Ivan.
Home stretch Billy. Rolling wheels next!

Stock jetting with full exhaust = crappy power for sure! And I don't know why they did that with the cable ties if they didn't jet the carbs. Obviously they took them off at some point. I had mentioned to you that the clamps holding the carbs to the intake were a real b*tch to put back properly. I guess they took the easy way out with the cable ties :doh2:
The only thing I could think of is that once they got "into it" they may have felt it was "over their head" and took the easy road out. It probably explains why there is practically no mileage on the bike. It probably wasn't worth riding! Well, good for me in that case!
I'm almost as excited as if it were my bike. Happy days return. I hope the weather holds for you. IL is getting rain Thurs, Fri, and Sat.
I'll be glad to see you on 2 (and sometimes 1) wheel(s) again. Will we get to see the 2 YZF's together? You put in a lot of work and the pay off will be great! Congrats.
