Official YZF Makeover Thread

Now we've seen it clean, but I hope you get the chance to get it dirty (a little bit, at least) by riding it! That's what it's all about. Great job on the bike and a nifty trailer! I hope it doesn't need to be on the trailer much!

Enjoy it! I'm very happy for you!

Thanks Troy. Oh yeah, it will get "ridden" for sure buddy! I'm actually over 3 weeks ahead of schedule on the rebuild. I expected to be finished by the third week of April so I'm totally happy that I'll be riding much sooner! The trailer will come in handy for when I make my jaunts over to Earlzach's place as well as my PA buddies! It costed me $86 dollars everytime I rented a UHaul trailer so I figure that it will pay for itself after three uses. So two more trips and it's all worth it!

Hey Billy is Ivan going to put it on the dyno as well? I'm curious as to how much power it will make after it's tuned. I predict high 120s at the rear wheel ;)

I doubt that he'll be putting it on the Dyno. Mainly because I'd assume that he would need the seat to do that and I didn't leave him that. Plus, I don't even know what he'd charge me for that. I'll have to call and ask him.

I'm just thinking that if he's doing the jet kit and can't really ride the bike then he'll need to put it on the dyno to see how it's running in the mid-range and top-end.

By the way Billy check out your bike with a black fender, instead of the gray one. Looks pretty good ;)

Thanks Mike. I'm pretty sure that the bike came with the gray fender so I'll probably keep it that color. The black does indeed look kind of nice but it's just not in the budget right now.

It just dawned on me Billy --- why didn't you get a Gen1? You could have prolly got it for the same money?

Shame I ain't closer --- I'd paint the fender for ya. I think the grey looks nice also.

Well, if Tony hadn't found the YZF, I would most definitely have gotten another FZ1. After riding Tony's YZF home from the seller's house, I was in love with it. Almost a two hour ride from Poughkeepsie to Tony's house and it was the same or more comfort that I had on the FZ1. It wasn't until we were almost there that I had to stretch my legs which I have to do on the FZ as well. So when this bike popped up I just had to have it, especially with only 11,000 miles on it. If it stays in the condition that it's in now, I'm sure that I can always get back every penny I put into it. Aside from all that, I really think it's just a badass looking bike!

Yes I know! And I didn't even put that there! I just saw it last night. Hahaha!!! Hey! Next tax time may call for another ride ya know! Being that my son will be a "commuting student" to college, I'm still able to claim him as a dependant. Oh happy days!!!

Yea, Gen II's are getting cheaper by the day. By next year $3500 will buy a decent one ;)
